Feminine Tattoo Designs?

AlisonWond

Im looking to get another tattoo soon.
I want a design that wont look daft when im 30,40+
I already have a lovley floral design on my foot so nothing with flowers please, or faries or angels etc -its not really my style :)
Thanks.
Oh and im not sure WHERE im getting it so suggestions too !!
And if you dont like tattoo's love, dont answer.
And to say women with tattoo's are "Unattractive, promiscuous and heavy drinkers: perceptions of women with tattoos"
is untrue. Ofcourse unless someone got 'SL*G' tattoo on their forehead. People with tattoo's like to be creative with their body and theres no reason why not to if you choose so. Theyre are some really nice designs out there yano - not ugly either.

Answer
I love butterflies and I think they are feminine and there are so many styles to choose from. Maybe this post will help you decide. Hope it helps

Tattoo design question...?

Q. I'm wanting to add some pretty vines or flowers with vines onto my foot and onto the butterfly tattoo that I already have on my ankle. What are some kinds of flowers that grow on vines and how should I incorporate it into the one I already have?
The butterfly I have is a Monarch and it's facing flat where you can see all of the wings. It takes up the whole side of my ankle.

Answer
Jasmine, roses, honeysuckle, morning glorys, passion flowers, etc.You can have the vines surround the butterfly or have the vine trail around your ankle or up your foot and then just have the butterfly sitting on one of the flowers. You may want to check out some drawings or photos of flowering vines in a natural setting to get a better idea of composition.

Covering up wings tattoo on wrist. Which do you think will work best? Please answer?

Cassandra

Okay so about a year ago I got wings tattooed on my wrist and at the time I thought they looked good. But now I'm ashamed to let anyone see it because I hate how they look. People always ask what it is, and tell me it looks like so many different things. This weekend I am going to see if I can get it covered up with a different tattoo. I don't know if you have to have a certain design to cover it up but I'm going to try and go with a butterfly. A blue butterfly because the meaning of it is beautiful.

Here's my messed up wings: http://m804.photobucket.com/albumview/albums/vicecassy11/D3F41001-3D98-4168-82F9-D63186410075-5318-0000025F3705A405.jpg.html?newest=1&pbauth=1_uLEBonVPfaLdh1h3YMYz2fxXAmMOR6mfBLuHVrt3aLbsvlKGOOcFNCaRrS904SLAlrxIasc4pbyOY5FmXMYn8WiabKEX%2BK88z0k5lKMaNFcnE9cCrsN0SP%2FVsZzff%2FAtXskphySe929y%2BwXC8U%2BvmbtN%2B1P0BpRKA9%2FKyIz%2Bltc%3D&pbauth=1_uLEBonVPfaLdh1h3YMYz2fxXAmMOR6mfBLuHVrt3aLbsvlKGOOcFNCaRrS904SLAlrxIasc4pbyOY5FmXMYn8WiabKEX%2BK88z0k5lKMaNFcnE9cCrsN0SP%2FVsZzff%2FAtXskphySe929y%2BwXC8U%2BvmbtN%2B1P0BpRKA9%2FKyIz%2Bltc%3D

I'm really wanting this: http://m804.photobucket.com/albumview/albums/vicecassy11/DF6F34B9-D9FC-4928-A6B1-15DB7A80E274-5318-0000025F4276E898.jpg.html?newest=1&pbauth=1_uLEBonVPfaLdh1h3YMYz2fxXAmMOR6mfBLuHVrt3aLbsvlKGOOcFNCaRrS904SLAlrxIasc4pbyOY5FmXMYn8WiabKEX%2BK88z0k5lKMaNFcnE9cCrsN0SP%2FVsZzff%2FAtXskphySe929y%2BwXC8U%2BvmbtN%2B1P0BpRKA9%2FKyIz%2Bltc%3D&pbauth=1_uLEBonVPfaLdh1h3YMYz2fxXAmMOR6mfBLuHVrt3aLbsvlKGOOcFNCaRrS904SLAlrxIasc4pbyOY5FmXMYn8WiabKEX%2BK88z0k5lKMaNFcnE9cCrsN0SP%2FVsZzff%2FAtXskphySe929y%2BwXC8U%2BvmbtN%2B1P0BpRKA9%2FKyIz%2Bltc%3D

Do you think it will work? And which butterfly do you like best? Thank you so much!

Answer
I personally like the second butterfly better, but either one should easily cover up the wings, and you can't go wrong with that.

Can anyone suggest a tattoo image that means "Change"?

Miss Taylo

I already have two tattoos and I'm looking to possibly get a third very soon. I know I eventually want to have many tattoos, but I'm trying to space them out over several years.

My question is that I'm looking for an image that symbolizes change, growth, rebirth, and maturity, in a general way.

My first two tattoos were flat, black images. I designed the first one myself and the second was an image I chose and presented to my tattoo artist. Neither were 3D or detailed, and both were rather small.
I want something bigger now, with detail and color. The place I have in mind is my left shoulder, possibly from the tip of the shoulder to my middle back.

I don't want something that is culturally "popular" or an image that is the "in" thing. Just suggestions that I can work with and mold into something uniquely ME. I've heard "phoenix", "flowers", "yin and yang", and "butterfly" so far. The phoenix idea is growing on me, but none of the others sound appealing to me.

Thanks for help!
xox
I disagree. Not all tattoos symbolize change. Every piece has a meaning to the person getting it, and it's not "change" for every single person. That's why I'm asking for help. So I appreciate the people that are offering their advice, not their criticism. Thanks.

Answer
A phoenix rising from the ashes!!! I think if it was done right on a chick it would be so hot!! If you have a good artist he/she could work in the oranges, reds and yellows to make it pop out and look real bright.. Yeah and to the moron that said ALL tattoos represent change just needs to shut up, I have a half sleeve and one half of my lower leg done and neither of them have anything to do with change.

Research Paper - Tattoo/Body Art?

Michael D

Tattoo/Body Art Research Paper

Hello, I am working on a post-secondary research paper which explores the culture of Tattoos and Body Art.

Iâd like to invite people who already have tattoos and consider themselves part of the tattoo/body art culture to share their opinions by responding to the questions below.

This research is intended to explore the qualitative aspects of tattoo/body art culture -- the reasons why you have body art, how it makes you feel, your values and beliefs.

Again, this is for those who * already have * tattoos/body art.

It is ok to select more than one answer to the questions below.

If there any additional opinions, beliefs, values, or issues youâd like to express, please feel to include them.

If youâd like to email me privately, please click on my icon and send me a confidential email. Your contact info will not be shared.

Thank you very much.

(3) Do you ever conceal your tattoos? Why?

(4) Are there situations where you have been discriminated against because of visible tattoos?

(5) Have you ever regretted getting a tattoo? Why?

Answer
1.Reason for getting tattoo/body art:
i.Reminder/Symbolic meaning: my first tattoo was a rune stone on my wrist that symbolizes "new beginnings." I got this after going through a rough patch in my life and coming out of it a stronger person. I chose this to remind me that no matter what happens tomorrow's always another day.
ii. Memorial/Symbolic meaning: My 2nd tattoo's a self designed memorial piece for my grandparents. It's an entwining red and green ivy vine. I chose ivy, as my gran's name was ivy, they kept ivy in the house and ivy tattoo's symbolize love and immortality.
iii.other/Symbolic meaning/Reminder. My 3rd tattoo is a rib piece. The lower part is a hibiscus which was a birthday present from my partner. It was taken from pictures we took on a holiday and the hibiscus symbolizes love and delicate beauty. The upper part are 5 butterflies, to symbolize everyone in my life that i love. I chose butterflies are butterflies symbolize the soul and life.

(2) âCompared to not having a tattoo, having a tattoo makes me feel...â
That i'm me. They all represent something special in my life, past or present. They're a documentation of what's important to me, what's changed/shaped/molded me and what's made me me.

(3) Do you ever conceal your tattoos? Why?
One runs from my shoulder to hip, my other's on my ribs- so they're always concealed as it's way to cold to constantly wear a bikini.
My 3rd is on my wrist which is always displayed.

(4) Are there situations where you have been discriminated against because of visible tattoos?
Nope, i've never had a negative comment about myself or my tattoos.

(5) Have you ever regretted getting a tattoo? Why?
I regret choosing the artist that i did for my 2nd tattoo as he really shouldn't have been a tattooist and i wouldn't have to pay out another $250 to get it re-inked.

i need some ideas..i want to get a tattoo?

i<3tyler

i plan on getting a tattoo soon..but i don't know whether to have it done with a gun..or with calligraphy...which hurts less? and i want stars or paw prints on my foot or a heart on the side of my wrist..what are some other good ides? pics would help

Answer
A tattoo gun is the default method of getting a tattoo (unless you plan on going through the considerably longer and more painful processes of traditional Polynesian or traditional Japanese tattooing...). Calligraphy simply means "beautiful writing"- it is a font style like "handwriting" or "printing" (or if you're into computers, "Arial" or "Times New Roman"), not a means of applying a tattoo.

Most, if not all, tattoo parlors have a large amount of "flash", pictures of simple designs, for those who don't know what they want in a tattoo. Go to your local parlors and look on their walls, and through their portfolios. That will help you get some ideas on what you like.

Since I don't know you or your personality, "I EM WE TODD DID" tattooed on your forehead might be just as valid as a full-back tattoo of Barbie, which is just as valid as a biomech dragon sleeve, in your eyes. Asking random people for ideas, without giving us any clue as to why you want it, what you want it to symbolize, what you like, or what you're like, is pretty useless.

Are you very feminine? Opt for flowers, small birds, butterflies, dainty vinework, symbols of love, etc.
Are you tough? Opt for dragons, tigers, wolves, lions, stonework, symbols of strength or power.
Are you sexy? Opt for playboy bunnies, delicate long-petaled flowers, pomegranates, slinky cats
Are you cute? Opt for kitties, bunnies, puppies, candy, cartoon characters
Are you fun loving? Opt for symbols of your favorite pastimes
Are you of an Irish heritage? Opt for a triquetra or knotwork
Are you religious? Opt for a symbol or phrase that sums up your faith.

...see where I'm going with this?

Tattoo Artist Help Please?

Hi

I want to get a small tattoo on my foot, but I have a few questions about it.

1. I have heard foot tattoos can smudge-is this true and how much?
2. What are the chances of the tattoo getting smudged or anything?-is this during the healing process or forever?
3. How long is the healing process?
4. How long will the tattoo take to do-it will be like 1 in wide and 3 in long
5. Does it hurt-alot?
6. Do you recommend it on the foot why or why not?
7. I have heard you can't wear shoes or socks during the healing process-is this true? What happens if you do?
8. Will I scar from the tattoo needle? I have very sensitive skin and scar from everything
9. Will it need to be touched up in the future-how often?
10. Will it fade at all?
11. Any other tattoo advice would be greatly appreciated!!! This will be my first tattoo and I plan on getting it around next September

Answer
Smudge? Tattoos anywhere on the body lose their sharpness, especially very small tattoos. Detail will be lost. For instance, good tattoo artists won't do small text because it will run together into a blurb. you can't help that, it's your body's natural aging process. Otherwise, the tattoo can 'blow out' where the lines can look like they've strayed from the original design. Usually a result of a very heavy handed artist.
A small tattoo of that size, probably an hour, your feet do hurt because of the bones and nerves in that area. Not a lot of skin and fat = pain. Typical healing time is about three weeks (for the initial process, complete healing time can be up to two months on a foot, which is why swimming and sunning are on the no no list for that long, then wearing sunscreen, while the top layer of skin regrows after peeling), though foot tattoos tend to hurt for longer during the healing process because the artist is putting an open wound on you, you don't realize how often you use a limb until you have something painful on it. As long as you stay to the upper side of the foot, you should be ok location wise, your foot regrows skin at a faster rate than other spots of the body because of the wear and tear it sees. So getting it lower where callouses are can be horrible for tattoos fading quickly or ink not sticking well.
Inevitably you're going to wear something on your feet. If you can schedule the tattoo before a weekend where you can leave it mostly uncovered for the first few days, it'd be great. You can wear cotton or a breathable sock, you want the ink to get air to heal. Shoes, try to keep them loose and kick em off when you can. If worst comes to worst, the sock might stick to the tattoo, if it doesn't come off easily after you apply water to gently remove it, you might need minor touch ups.

A tattoo is a scar. In a worst case scenario, you might end up with a keloid type scar. They're common around piercings but if you've ever had anything like them before, you might want to really think about the tattoo. Otherwise, the tattoo won't scar beyond where the ink is applied unless you get an infection.
With today's inks and applications, most tattoos can go years without a touch up, but your feet might need them a bit more often if you're a fan of flip flops or similar shoes where the tattoo is going to see a lot of sun, or if you like cramming your feet in heels or other tight fitting shoes, they can effect how often you're going to get a touch up. Tattoos do fade. It's inevitable. It's up to your aftercare that's going to effect it and how often you'd need touch ups to refresh it. Lots of sun or abrasive shoes can certainly do damage to a tattoo.

You've left yourself plenty of time to plan, so be sure to pick out an artist you're comfortable with and ask them for aftercare advice. A lot of shops put up aftercare on their websites now so people can be prepared with the right lotions and such before they get their tattoo (I can't recall how many times I've had to run out after getting a tattoo cause I forgot to plan ahead of time). Some have different tips and tricks to make things easier for you and that can give you the time before the tattoo to pick up anything that can be beneficial to having at home before you get inked (like an ice pack if it gets too sore).

Otherwise, eat right before you go in to get your tattoo, drink something sugary, fuel helps your body tolerate the new wound Be sure to ask your artist what their aftercare is, they should be able to give you concise washing directions (typically 2-3 times a day with a mild soap, pat dry with a clean paper towel, apply thin layers of lotion, something scent free and dye free like lubriderm, etc) and other info so if you do need a touch up, they can rest assured you didn't try some off the wall healing process either. :) Have fun and happy holidays to you!

im looking for a good book to read any suggsestions?

Q. im looking for a book about a magical world ful of creatures if you could recommend one and just give a couple senteces about what its about!!

Answer
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
This is an awesome book about a red head boy and how he becomes this great hero person. It's told by him to a scribe person and is really interesting and you can't put it down. It's based in a magical world and it has lots of weird creatures in it.

The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini
(Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr)
You've probably already heard of them. They are about a boy who finds a dragon egg that hatches for him and he has to travel across the lands to the rebellion against this evil King. Through out the books he meets different races such as elfs and dwarfs.

The Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage
(Magyk, Flyte, Physik, Queste)
Is about a boy who is the seventh son of the seventh son and has extraordinary magical powers and he finds is family and they battle against the evil necromancer DomDaniel.

The Janna Mysteries by Felicity Pulman
(Rosemary for Remembrance, Rue for Repentance, Lilies for Love, Willows for Weeping)
Not really magical, but it is an excellent book about a girl trying to find her father after her mother was murdered to bring the murderer to justice.

The Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce
(Alanna: The First Adventure, In the Hand of the Goddess, The Woman Who Rides Like A Man, Lioness Rampant)
About a girl who swaps places with her twin brother so that she can become a knight and all of the adventures she goes through to reach her dream. She has healing powers and there are lots of different people with different magical abilities.

Rangerâs Apprentice series by John Flanagan
(The Ruins of Gorlan, The Burning Bridge, The Icebound Land, The Battle for Skandia, Sorcerer of the North, The Siege of Macindaw, The Kings of Clonmel)
About this orphan that is chosen to be the Ranger's apprentice and all of the things that happens. There are many different races.

The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness by Michelle Paver
(Wolf Brother, Spirit Walker, Soul Eater, Outcast, Oath Breaker, Ghost Hunter)

The Dead Days Omnibus by Marcus Sedgwick

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien
(The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King)
You've probably also heard of this one. It's about this Hobbit that has to destroy a magical ring and his journey to the only place where he can and all of the people/races he meets. It's really good.

The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing, Traitor to the Nation by M.T. Anderson
(Volume One: The Pox Party)

The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud
(The Amulet of Samarkand, The Golemâs Eye, Ptolemyâs Gate)
Involves summoning demons and magic etc.

Monster Blood Tattoo series by C.M. Cornish
(Foundling, Lamplighter)
Involves monsters and world of fear and a mystery. That's all I'll say otherwise I'll ruin the story.

The Whispering Road by Livi Michael
Awesome book. The story of two children trying to find their mother.

The Tapestry series by Henry Neff
(The Hounds of Rowan, The Siege)
Similar to Harry Potter. It involves a magic school and an evil magical person.

The Chain of Charms series by Kate Forsyth
(The Gypsy Crown, The Silver Horse ,The Herb of Grace, The Butterfly in Amber, Catâs eye Shell, The Lightning Bolt)
About a gypsy girl that has to find the charms of the chain of charms to restore the gypsy luck and save her family from jail.

His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman
(The Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass)

Pirates! By Celia Rees

The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
(Harry Potter and the Philosopherâs Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows)
You've probably heard of these and possibly watched the movies or already read the books. It's about a magical school and Harry's battle's against the evil guy.

The Greenwich Chronicles by Val Tyler
(The Time Wrekkas, The Time Apprentice)

The Immortals series by Tamora Pierce
(Wild Magic, Wolf-Speaker, Emperor Mage, The Realms of the Gods)
Series after The Song of the Lioness Quartet and involves more magic and adventures with some new and old characters.

I hope this helps and happy reading!

Which tattoo is better?

I'm not getting the design of the butterfly just the way they are positioned and the way the shadow looks.

Answer
You know that you don't have to fit the entire question just in that first part right? You've shortened this so much that no one knows for sure what you're talking about.

Do you think the design of a tattoo is too flat in 2D? If the design of the tattoo was improved to be 3D, would you be more interested in it?

Even written like that it's really hard to understand what you're talking about. Are you looking to get a more realistic tattoo? Like.. say.. a butterfly that actually looks somewhat real? If that's the case you could ask the artist to add shadowing to make it look like it's actually off your skin. Is that what you mean?

Hopefully I helped some.. sorry if i'm completely off here.

Can you get a white butterfly tattoo? Pics included?

Barbara

I have a tattoo that I've been adding to. Each time I have a child, I add a butterfly in their birthstone. I have a big butterfly on my foot (colors are symbolic to me), my husband's butterfly (Emerald), and my son's butterfly (Citrine). I am trying to conceive, and in the off chance that my child is born in April, the birthstone is a Diamond. However, can you get a white butterfly tattoo? I can't see it looking very good. What other ideas could I do, or should I completely avoid that month?

You don't need a Facebook account to view these photos. The first link is just me and my husband, and the third is the added new butterfly (for my son).

Answer
Yes you could have a white butterfly, perhaps with the black outline similar to your existing butterfly designs. The black would help to make the white 'stand out' more.
I have a white flower with a little shading around it to help make it 'pop' and it shows up perfectly well. Don't be put off by what some people say about white tattoos, they can be just as visible etc as any other ink colour. There are some exceptions obviously, some people don't seem to hold the ink as well, others it just doesn't seem to show up as good (I'm pale and it shows up nicely on my skin)
There are also some artists who are not comfortable working with white ink, although most are, so if you choose to go with the white just call ahead and make sure.

What do you think about this tattoo?

I am planning on getting my 2nd tattoo done in the New Year sometime. I want to design it and the tattoo artist is going to help me design it so I drew up a sketch of the kind of thing I want. I got inspiration thanks to a helpful person on here once.

I want the letters in the tattoo but im not sure whereabouts would be best for it. I drew in the places where I think it would look good but im not sure, what do you think.

Also its for my lower leg/ankle area and it will be slightly smaller than what I drew and also in black and white as I have a colour one on my shoulder and I wanted a change lol. Obviously as well that is just a rough sketch that im going to take to my tattoo artist. He will obviously make it better and improve it. Im sure its what I want and im not asking if I should get it as I know my own mind and what I want, sort of lol.

Also can anyone else give me some inspiration too?

Thanks everyone :)

Answer
as far as the letters go, i might split it up so that one letter (the c) is in front of the butterfly and one (the m) is behind it, like where you have the letters now. it just seems like it would be a little more balanced that way, if that makes sense.

also, you might want to shade some of the parts in with graywash, instead of all just black. i think that would give it a little bit more dimension and i think that it would add to the overall design. like maybe you could do the butterfly darker so it stands out a little more, and then do the ribbon part in the graywash.

also, you dont want to go too small on any design even if you are trying to fit it somewhere smaller like your ankle as opposed to your back for example. you want to go at least big enough to fit all the details in, because the smaller you go, the less detail you can actually put into the tattoo without it looking like a little blob, especially in black and white. but the artist will be able to help you out with the sizing too.

Who sings this country song?

joblow

It is fairly new, and it goes something like: lets go park somewhere, so I can check you for tics .............

Who sings it, and the title?

Answer
Ticks by Brad Paisley

everytime you take a sip
in this smoky atmosphere
you press that bottle to your lips
and i wish i was your beer
and in the small there of your back
your jeans are playing peek a boo
id like to see the other half
of your butterfly tattoo

hey that gives me an idea
lets get out of this bar
and drive out into the country
and find a place to park

cause id like to see you out in the moonlight
id like to kiss you way back in the sticks
id like to walk you through a field of wildflowers
and id like to check you for ticks

i know the perfect little path
out in these woods i used to hunt
dont worry babe ive got your back
and ive also got your front
id hate to waste a night like this
ill keep you safe you wait and see
the only thing allowed to crawl all over you
when we get there is me

you know every guy in here tonight
would like to take you home
but ive got way more class than them
and that aint what i want

cause id like to see you out in the moonlight
id like to kiss you way back in the sticks
id like to walk you through a field of wildflowers
and id like to check you for ticks

oooh you never know where one might be
and oooh theres lots of places that are hard to reach

id like to see you out in the moonlight
id like to kiss you way back in the sticks
id like to walk you through a field of wildflowers
and id like to check you for ticks

oh id sure like to check you for ticks

Can anyone help me with a tattoo design?

curious gi

I want a butterfly breaking away from chains, on my left ankle. I have never seen anyone with that tattoo. So it's hard to find a design. I don't have an exact image of it, in my mind. I just know i want it to represent me. Ive been through a lot in my life. I would like the butterfly to stand out, and the chains to be broken. If anyone has got any ideas, pictures of tattoos, designs, etc. Your comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Answer
Go talk with a tattoo artist and get him/her to design one special for you. Don't copy someone else's design; that would be pretty dull and unoriginal.

You may want to check out some drawings or photos of flowering vines in a natural setting to get a better idea of composition.

are butterfly tattoos unoriginal and boring?

I'm going to get 3-4 very tiny butterflies flying upwards on the side of my lower back (not on the 'tramp stamp' location) but my friends say it's very cliche to have a butterfly lower back tat and it's unoriginal and boring. But I can't think of anything I want more. Is it really such a common and boring idea ? And if it is, what is something small, girly and original that I can get instead ? Thanks in advance :)

Answer
In my view, all tattoos are bad, but butterfly tattoos are preferable to other kinds, like skulls or snakes. Its sort of like, better to have your little finger chopped off than your whole hand, you know? Tattoo predators don't like butterflies since they are pretty--they prefer to inflict snakes, skulls, dragons or satanic signs on their victims. But really, no tattoos are good. A tattoo is a tattoo, and the true cost of a tattoo is a lifetime of regret. There is an 80% chance you will regret it in your lifetime. Many people will look at you with disgust, for tattoos are offensive to many, many people. Your chances of getting a good job will be greatly diminishedâmost companies will not hire you since your tattoo will be seen as offensive to other workers. There is nothing good about a tattoo. A tattoo is little better than a cartoonâyou canât get a good quality drawing on the human skin. Tattoos are an urban blight. They are ugly, like graffiti. Like graffiti, they lower the quality of the environment. Tattoos lower the quality of life, for everyone who has to see their ugliness. The whole concept of tattooing is wrong, the way these hideous cartoons are inked into the flesh of people through bloodletting and pain; if they are âartâ as claimed, they are surely a dark and evil art. Tattoos are closely linked to other forms of self harm, like cutting, piercing, drug use, etc.; they are hand-in-glove with these destructive behaviors. . Young people are fooled into wanting tattoos by degenerate Hollywood and the media. Kids think tattoos are cool and cutting edge, but over time, they wind up hating their tattoos. Far worse, they wind up hating themselves. Parents and older people are so afraid of being disliked that they say nothing against tattoos, even though they know better. Worse, some completely abandon their responsibility to provide sound guidance and even encourage the young ones to get tattooed. As far as tattoos being âartâ, that is foolish garbage. A tattoo is NOT "a work of art". The human body is not a canvas and the abusers and mutilators who desecrate it are not artists. Most of their so called "art" is little better than comic book drawings. More and more young people are buying into this Hollywood lie that tattoos are a cutting edge way to âexpressâ yourself. But that is so not true. You should express yourself with your words and actions, not by inking graffiti onto your living flesh. Do not listen to the many predators and enablers here, who encourage young people to abandon decency and live self indulgent and destructive lives. Young peopleâdo not get tattooed. Stay in school, do your best there, avoid drinking, drugs, tattoos and piercings, and avoid those who have them. Go to college, study science, mathematics, or business, and avoid liberal arts (unless you are wealthy and donât need to make a living). God bless you in your life. But if you simply have to have a tattoo, a butterfly is far preferable to a skull, for sure.

What is the meaning of monarch butterfly tattoo?

31E_wife

I am wanting a tattoo of a few monarch butterflys on my upper back. But before i do i just want to make sure it doesnt have any strange meanings. Let me know what you have heard...

Answer
Butterflies symbolize femeninity so only / let me rephrase that- mostly women request a butterfly tattoo.

For me, the butterfly symbolizes a soul. Then |I looked up butterfly tattoo meaning and sur enough- a soul was listed there as one of the meanings.

|As for the monarch species - they are the most beautiful amng the butterflies.
so- the lady who sports the butterfly tattoo has a beautiful soul?

britbrat06

I'm wanting to get a tattoo for my birthday here soon and I was wondering about how much it would cost before i go in.. Here are the details

*I want it on my lower back
*A normal size butterfly with scrolls on both sides
*And Freedom written in cursive underneath it
*I'd like the butterfly to be colored in about three different colors

Estimates?
Thanks

Answer
It all depends on the size of the butterfly. I have approximately 13 tatoos. The artist may charge for the writing seperately that is their option. It should not cost more than 200.00 though

Wow! That zebra butterfly and the flower and colors with it is an incredible image! It is beautiful, delicate, bold, symbolic of life and change, has all the meaning to you personally, and it has the line and black/white/color ratio of a superb tattoo!
I don't think you could find better!

It is truly great to read a well researched, thoughtful, sincere, and personal question. Yours is the way questions should be posted here, and why they should be answered!

Good luck with your tattoo and everything in your life, you are off to a wonderful start! Well done!

Tattoo Costs?

Q. How much approximately would it cost for a butterfly tattoo on lower back about 3 inches by 3 inches with about 2 or 3 colours.

Answer
Depends really. I have several tattoo's, including a full sleeve on my right arm. I would personally go into the tat shop myself, and ask the counter person. Compare shops and quality of artists. Roughly anywhere from $75 - $150. Good luck!

Tattoo cover up ideas?

Tyler

When I was 15 I was convinced to get a star tattoo on my lower hip. Needless to say, its poorly done. - hardly resembles a star and I just want it gone. Its not filled in, only a thin outline so what kind of tattoo could I do to cover it? I need ideas please, and don't go on a rant telling me to only get tattoos for a purpose. I want one and that's my purpose.

Answer
I had a ghetto home-made butterfly tattoo covered up by a blue flower.

You can put anything over it really, except a quote cuz that would look weird. I mean you could do what I did with a flower, or a hummingbird, maybe a clover or a gypsy....

Cover Up Tattoos..??????????

LLSB

I have an outline of a black butterfly on my stomach But i want to get it covered.
I was thinking maybe a Frangipani.
Would the yellow cover the littler bits of black that are in the middle???
Thanks for the answers x
Thanks for the ideas..Might cheak that out. x

Answer
No i dont think the yellow would cover the black outline, but maybe you could turn the butterfly outline into a different pattern maybe? you should ask a tattooist. Or you could have laser surgery, the price depends on the size of the tattoo it starts at about 120 pounds if your willing to do that, put sometimes you may get scarring.

Who sings this country song?

joblow

It is fairly new, and it goes something like: lets go park somewhere, so I can check you for tics .............

Who sings it, and the title?

Answer
Ticks by Brad Paisley

everytime you take a sip
in this smoky atmosphere
you press that bottle to your lips
and i wish i was your beer
and in the small there of your back
your jeans are playing peek a boo
id like to see the other half
of your butterfly tattoo

hey that gives me an idea
lets get out of this bar
and drive out into the country
and find a place to park

cause id like to see you out in the moonlight
id like to kiss you way back in the sticks
id like to walk you through a field of wildflowers
and id like to check you for ticks

i know the perfect little path
out in these woods i used to hunt
dont worry babe ive got your back
and ive also got your front
id hate to waste a night like this
ill keep you safe you wait and see
the only thing allowed to crawl all over you
when we get there is me

you know every guy in here tonight
would like to take you home
but ive got way more class than them
and that aint what i want

cause id like to see you out in the moonlight
id like to kiss you way back in the sticks
id like to walk you through a field of wildflowers
and id like to check you for ticks

oooh you never know where one might be
and oooh theres lots of places that are hard to reach

id like to see you out in the moonlight
id like to kiss you way back in the sticks
id like to walk you through a field of wildflowers
and id like to check you for ticks

oh id sure like to check you for ticks

Tattoo design help!!?

GolfGirl20

ok so im getting my first tattoo in a few months and i need a little help with the design. I want a sad angel like a teenage angel (female) with her knees curled up to her, and i want her reaching with one hand and looking towards three butterflies. It would be awesome if someone could draw this up for me and email it to me!! i would really appreciate it alot! this tattoo has alot of sentimental meaning to me.
i know how the tattoo business works.... im not asking for the actual design of what wil be on my body, im just asking for a rough drawing. i personally am a artist myself but i cant seem to get it just the way i want it

Answer
Take pictures in for reference and have your tattooist of choice draw up a custom design for you:

Which tattoo design do you like best out of these?

music is my life so i'm sure i want one of these

http://www.flickr.com/photos/47122977@N08/4563841159/

Answer
I like the 1st one best. Mostly because I have it, on my wrist!
But after about a year, I added musical butterfly wings on to it. Because so many girls have this tattoo, and I wanted mine unique. I didn't find out about this until after I got it.
As for the 2nd one, I've never seen it before, it's cool, but only a good tattoo if you like celestial stuff too.
I've seen the 3rd one a few times before, and it's something I would see a man getting, not a woman.
Oh, and even if I didn't have the 1st one, I'd still pick that one, even though many others have it, it's still a nice looking tattoo.

Why do people tattoo band names/logos on them?

Gardenfoot

I never understood it... I've seen guys with tattoos of Limp Bisket, Ja Rule, Korn, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Danzig, etc. (except for one guy that tattoo looked like the Danzig CD, but he only used the fonts for the design to pay homage to his pagan god.)

What are they a walking billboard for the band? It looks really stupid.

Also really stupid...
Sports teams
MMA fighters..

Not so stupid is when it has significance.

Answer
It depends what band you get tattooed and why, man. Led Zeppelin changed my life while listening to "The Ocean," just before I drove for the first time. It felt like I actually tasted freedom, and that one experience brought on my love of rock and roll. The same type of thing might have happened to someone else and they wanted to get it as a tattoo. That's one thing, but to have a ****** band like Limp Bizkit, Ja Rule, or KoRn on yourself is just plain tacky, man. Don't get me wrong, there are other EXCELLENT bands besides Zeppelin, but Limb Bizkit definitely isn't one of them. I don't have any tatoos, but if I did ever get one, I'm sure the ZoSo (and probably the other symbols) would be involved, because Jimmy Page IS the reason I play guitar, although there are others, like Hendrix and Frusciante who have inspired me equally, Pagey was the reason I got into it. That changed my life for good, man.

I see where you're coming from though, man. I wouldn't understand why anyone would actually get the name of a band in that particular font tattooed, but to incorporate a particular image, like the lady on the front of the first Black Sabbath album cover, or the Led Zeppelin runes, or something like that into a tattoo is something entirely different. One might get a screaming butterfly (not sure how to illustrate that, lol) in order to commemorate a defining lyric of an important song, "When the Music's Over," for instance... or something like that. Anything with artistic merit is able to be accepted as a tatoo as far as I'm concerned, but if you have a ******* KISS tattoo or something, just go kill yourself... you know what I mean [sellouts].

Tattoo Design...?

turbs07

I've wanted this tattoo for a long time now...a butterfly on my left hip and "She flies with her own wings" in Latin next to it along the side of my stomach. I found a butterfly and font that I love and was just wondering if anyone had any more suggestions...thanks!! Here's a link to what I've come up with... http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/dancer07dc/1-1.jpg

Answer
i love your tattoo. if you colored the butterfly it would stand out more. my suggestion would be blue or red color, some color to stand out, before you see the rest. other then that i love it. good choice and it is something different.

HI, I am going to get a butterfly tattoo on my hip/leg area, and though I do like some I have seen I haven`t fallen completely in love yet. I want several small ones flying up my leg. Any ideas? Thanks

Answer
Just be sure it's a design and location you can live with. Depending on your age you'll be looking at that tattoo for the next seventy years or more.

I want a tattoo on my hand, how badly will it hurt?

Love&BeLov

I want this butterfly tattoo (the one on the far left of the picture) on my hand, kind of like the spot where Khole Kardashian got her husband's initials. I want it a little bit smaller and a little further up my hand though (not so much in the web of my hand).

Serious answers please. I know it'll hurt and I'll prolly take advil before I go, but I just want to know if anyone has any personal experiences or advice they'd like to share. :D

Answer
It shouldn't hurt at all. There are no bones there and it's all skin that is exposed to sun an use every day so that means that more than likely, you won't feel that much pain. This would probably take about 10-15 minutes if that. I suggest you do what I do every time I get a tattoo. Bring your ipod and listen to your favorite music that gets you pumped while you are doing it. Trust me, it'll be over before you know it. Tattoo pain, for me anyway, is like a repetitive scratching of the same spot. Being that you won't get it filled with color since it is just an outline it shouldn't bother you that much at all.

By the way, I think that would look beautiful. Very delicate =)

Getting a tattoo of either the corpse bride butterfly or the four elements on my feet?

Q. So I've been contemplating a while on getting a tattoo, and I think I want one on my feet. Before I was thinking I could get the corpse bride butterfly on my foot to signify love after death. Maybe have the words from the Death Cab for Cutie song "I will follow you into the dark" by it.
But a lot of people have butterfly tattoos so I was thinking about something more unique. Would it be lame if I got tattoos of the four elements on my foot? Based on the Avatar:The Last Airbender element designs? http://blog.beliefnet.com/freshliving/The_Four_Elements_by_NLbroekieNL.jpg
not necessarily all 3Dish like that, but still the same basic designs. These would signify balance in my life, a reminder to be flexible (water) yet sturdy (earth), passionate(fire) and optimistic (air). I was thinking I could get two on one the side of one foot and the other two on the opposite side of my other foot.
Is this idea lame? Which tattoo should I go for? All opinions are appreciated. If it sounds retarded, tell me. If it sounds great, tell me that too. I like both of these ideas, but I'm asking because I want other opinions so I don't regret these tattoos later.

Also, sorry this is sort of a repeat question. I was trying to edit the last one I did and accidentally deleted it.

Answer
i like the corpse bride butterfly eben though a lot of girls have had it your making it your own and that important also, love after death is a huge thing i think you wouldn't get old of it because it could really help you emotionally.
