ok theres a story behind wanting this tattoo. buts its of a peguin butterfly cartoon tattoo. thinking of doing it small like on the inside of my wrist about 3 x 3 or where else would be a good spot for it.

so do all tattoos have to mean something? ive always said that I would never get a tattoo that didnt have a deep meaning to my life (i have 3 everlasting rose (beauty and beast), husbands name on my ring finger, and kids names with butterflys on chest) but i feel drawn to doing this.

ok so heres the story:
i was getting my beauty and beast rose tattoo yesterday well theres a butterfly on the vase to tie it into my chest piece. when my tat artist typed in butterflys we found that clip art, and they kept joking that they were going to put that on me. it was a good laugh; i even said that i could see some teenage girl getting it just cuz it was cute (they are in a mall so have teenagers come in all the time just to get tattoos that mean nothing) some even come in a few months later for a cover up(long running joke in store) but as i got home i kept thinking of that lil penguin butterfly, looked it up and even showed it to my husband who instantly fell in love and said to get it done. so now im actually thinking of doing it.

i dont rush into anything so even for this i will wait at least 2 months before getting it to make sure my feelings dont change. so now to my question do you think that all tattoos have to mean something? i did until this happened. do you think it would be a good tattoo? whats a good spot for it?

I have 3 and they mean so much to me. I have a butterfly tattoo because my name means butterfly in Greek and I envy the freedom butterflies have. My 2nd tattoo is of a lotus flower which stands for the ability to overcome hardships. My 3rd is of the word "Paradise" because that is the reason everyone lives, to find their own personal paradise, and paradise can be anything or even anyone. Share what your tattoos mean to you.

on my right forearm i have a 2 octave keyboard from my wrist to elbow with 3 roses surrounding it with "Forever My Father" written above.
the tattoo is for my father that passed away 4 years ago, he meant so much to me. He pushed me soo hard to practice piano when i was little until the point that i would cry. He always said to me "i know i bug you alot to practice, but you'll thank me later". now look where i am. i'm only 18 and i've got the music talent that i would never believe i would have. i've completed my ARCT in piano, grade 10 rcm vocals, and now working at home making good money mixing and mastering tracks for local communities things and background music for videos and the list goes on.

Well I'm 18 years old and I plan on getting my first tattoo very soon. For awhile I didn't know what I wanted but now I know what I want.
Tattoo idea:
3butterflies, with vines and very detailed representing me and my 2 sisters....Since we are all close and I love them a lot I decided to get this. I didn't want to get something that I would end up regretting in the end.

But, I wanted to get a symbol that means 3 sisters or just sisters????

I like your idea! I think the butterflies is a cool idea! But I'm not sure how the vines would fit into that. Also three flowers, or three hearts or something would be cute. How about maybe the sun, the moon, and a star? That would also be cool. Just get something you like!

Does it have to do with society,personality,different views on beauty, genes,etc. I can understand if its a cool tattoo or an ear piercing for girls. I know that I can hate em, but as long as don't say anything mean I can get along with people who get em.

I have four piercings and one (going to change to two soon) tattoo. As for piercings... I love the way they look. I think it adds personality and beauty. You get to pretty much accentuate the features you like.

Tattoos, on the other hand, are more meaning than anything. The one I have is a butterfly on the inside of my wrist. For me it represents freedom, it's purple for gay rights, and I have it over the scars from where I used to cut to say that I'm done with that and not going back there ever again.

The other tattoo I'm planning on getting is to represent my little sisters. There's a big age gap between me and them (I'm turning 18 in a few days and one of my little sisters is 5 and the other is 3) so even though I won't be here all the time and I'll be off doing my own thing a lot I'll still be thinking about them.

There are some people that get tattoos for stupid reasons (they think it looks 'cool' at the time, someone pressured them into it, etc) but for most people they have real meaning behind it.

Johnny 3 tears in Hollywood Undead has 3 of them on his hand and one on his neck, what do they mean? and I could not find the music category if there is one so I put it in this one, and if you don't know what they mean to him what do butterfly tattoos usually mean?

I wouldn't even look at a GUY with butterfly tattoos specially if he's so EMO to call himself something as GAY as "johnny 3 tears" maybe they represent the times his daddy and uncle filmed each other abusing him, that's why he plays in a band called hollywood undead... Hellooooo?

How much do you think it would cost for this rib tattoo?

The tattoo place I'm going to is pretty high end. It's not "cheap" by any means, but it's not the most expensive.
I want to get the words "pretending to be happy while you're in pain is a perfect example of how strong you are" on my ribs/going down my side. I don't want the words to be huge, but I don't want them tiny either. I'm thinking maybe three or four lines tops for the whole thing. I also want 3 butterflies around the writing, and they'll be pretty big. The entire tattoo will probably take up the whole left side of my abdomen.

How much do you think it would cost? Is this pushing $200, do you think? Any opinions from people who have medium size rib tattoos? Thanks!

I don't have a rib tattoo but I definitely think it will push past $200 and climb high into $300 or $400 , especially if you want colour
