i need some ideas..i want to get a tattoo?

i<3tyler

i plan on getting a tattoo soon..but i don't know whether to have it done with a gun..or with calligraphy...which hurts less? and i want stars or paw prints on my foot or a heart on the side of my wrist..what are some other good ides? pics would help

Answer
A tattoo gun is the default method of getting a tattoo (unless you plan on going through the considerably longer and more painful processes of traditional Polynesian or traditional Japanese tattooing...). Calligraphy simply means "beautiful writing"- it is a font style like "handwriting" or "printing" (or if you're into computers, "Arial" or "Times New Roman"), not a means of applying a tattoo.

Most, if not all, tattoo parlors have a large amount of "flash", pictures of simple designs, for those who don't know what they want in a tattoo. Go to your local parlors and look on their walls, and through their portfolios. That will help you get some ideas on what you like.

Since I don't know you or your personality, "I EM WE TODD DID" tattooed on your forehead might be just as valid as a full-back tattoo of Barbie, which is just as valid as a biomech dragon sleeve, in your eyes. Asking random people for ideas, without giving us any clue as to why you want it, what you want it to symbolize, what you like, or what you're like, is pretty useless.

Are you very feminine? Opt for flowers, small birds, butterflies, dainty vinework, symbols of love, etc.
Are you tough? Opt for dragons, tigers, wolves, lions, stonework, symbols of strength or power.
Are you sexy? Opt for playboy bunnies, delicate long-petaled flowers, pomegranates, slinky cats
Are you cute? Opt for kitties, bunnies, puppies, candy, cartoon characters
Are you fun loving? Opt for symbols of your favorite pastimes
Are you of an Irish heritage? Opt for a triquetra or knotwork
Are you religious? Opt for a symbol or phrase that sums up your faith.

...see where I'm going with this?

Do you have any tattooes?

What are they and is there a story behind it?

Answer
Tattoos, and yes I have several of them.

My artist is Tim Maccowan of Aardvark Tattoos & Body Piercing in Saint Johns, MI. http://www.aardvarktattoos.com

At age 16 I used a needle and some India ink to put:
I (heart) Pat! on my left upper thigh/hip area. He was my boyfriend at the time. Except the tail of the 'a' later faded so now it looks like ' I (heart) Pot!' LoL Which I don't, but that just had to be the spot that faded. (I'm 32 now and still happily married to the same 'Pat' I was dating at 16).

At age 18 I did the cliche Unicorn Head on my Right hip, it still looks pretty but I've learned by now that I want original tattoos, not the flash art or cliche things like a rose, butterfly, or unicorn.

That tattoo was my first 'real' one did by an artist, and it was done in celebration of my marriage, moving away from home, and being 'grown up' now. (I was still a kid though as only age teaches you).

At age 20 something (I truly forgot the period when this one was done) I had Reverend Dark (a well known artist) do my intials on my upper Left breast. I loop my three intials together in a certain way - he traced my original signature and inked it onto my skin. He had fangs, long black hair, and spider webs inked at the corner of his eyes. I was terrified of him, yet he was the sweetest man once I got to know him. That tattoo was probably just a desire or whim of the moment inking. I know I had seen Mexican gang girls with names on their breasts and I thought it looked sexy. (I grew up in a small all white german Catholic town).

At age 32 I discovered Tim of Aardvarks Tattoos. He inked a celtic stone cross (large one!) onto the back of my neck this late May. It was for my grandmother who had just gotten seriously hurt, plus other family members. My children, husband, mother, and grandma. Plus an uncle who has a terminal disease. The cross has 4 gemstones, one at each point. Each gemstone is colored in the birthstone hue for my children, grandma, and husband. Then a yellow rose wraps up around the cross for my mom. Yellow roses are her favorite flower. The cross is for my uncle and everyone.

Then not even a month or so later (in June) I had Tim tattoo a beautiful hummingbird, purple flowers, and tribal like vine on my outter Right calf. It goes from almost my knee area to my ankle. My mother loves hummingbirds, and I figured better that then a skeleton ripping out of my skin. Might freak mom and my kids. *winks*

Annnnnnnnnd tonight, I razored a small star onto my left hand right between my pointer finger and thumb area. I then rubbed India ink into the cuts and presto, a beautiful perfect little star. This reminds me to follow my own path in life, to be true to myself and my family, and to never give up on my dreams or the future. It also reminds me how far I have come, and everything I have survived. It's one reason I did it myself.

I probably have another one that I've forgot about in my old age.

I'm going to get more of course, I'm a horrible whimp with the needles but I love the artwork once it's all said and done. I've learned that those who hate tattoos will tell you why they hate them.. what they think of tattoos on women, etc etc.. BUT I learned to ignore the negative people and just take pleasure in the many compliments and conversations strangers start up with me BECAUSE of my tattoos. *proud smile*

And for those who say 'it will look horrible when you're 80', I reply with 'so will the rest of me so who cares!' lol For those who say tattoos are somehow evil.. well, just ignore them because they have some serious mental issues and it's useless trying to convince them Satan didn't hold you down and ink your butt. hehee (No, I am not satanic.) For those who say ink is ugly on women, well those are usually the types who want a Barbie Doll perfect girlfriend so they wouldn't have liked somethign else on me or about me anyway (with or without the tattoos).

Piercings? I only my ears pierced with a 14g CBR and yes I screamed when Tim pierced them. It hurt! lol

Are there any Barbie dolls that got banned/ heavily criticized for being inappropriate in some way?

A Sentence

Please stick to actual Barbie dolls. It would also be helpful if anyone could give me a link to some established Barbie lists etc. or anything that is bad about Barbies :)

Answer
Well, it looks like you are going to do a negative report for school on how Barbie makes girls have body issues...and I definitely don't support that, but I am bored so here goes:

1. Barbie was modeled after the Bild Lili doll, which was originally a promiscous and scantily clad "German sex doll". It was not a sex doll, it was a doll that was dressed promiscuously and was predominantly coveted by men, but nonetheless this raised some controversy!

2. Teen Talk Barbie was heavily persecuted for declaring that "Math is hard!" She wasn't banned or taken off the shelves, but she is what molded the perception that Barbie is a ditzy bimbo, and Mattel has been trying to fight that stereotype ever since.

3. Then there was the Lingerie Silkstone Barbie. This Barbie is designed and targeted toward adut collectors, and was not advertized in mainstream media, however that didn't stop one mom from buying this doll for her daughter, and THEN complaining that it was too scantily clad for her daughter to play with. This series of dolls is dressed literally in lingerie, very skimpy gorgeous lingerie including garter belts with straps and high heeled shoes. They have since replaced the lingerie silkstones with "Pajama Silkstones" which also features dolls in lingerie, only now they are covered by a somewhat modest sheer housecoat.

4. Butterfly Art Barbie actually WAS banned and pulled off the shelves. Parents thought a doll sporting short jean skirts, a crocheted top, and a permanent tattoo created a negative image for little girls. Maybe if it was a tattoo of a naked woman or a flaming 666, I would agree, however a very small tribal design featuring a heart and butterfly doesn't seem so bad to me. They pulled these dolls from the shelves.

5. Oreo Barbie was also critisized, as another user mentioned, so I will leave that one out.

6. Barbie Basic was next... A line of dolls featuring all different styles of "little black dress" for which you could purchase accessorypacks. People were outraged that a Barbie doll from that line was wearing a dress with a waist-deep plunging neckline! This was no worse than anything your child would see on television. This was a mattel representation of a red-carpet dress, and was also targeted toward adult collectors. This was not pulled from shelves, but was and still is being critisized by concerned parents who don't know how to read, everywhere.

Barbie is no stranger to controversy, however I ask that you consider the positive effects that Barbie dolls have on little girls as well. She is completely self sufficient, a self-made millionaire with several houses, vehicles, and even some aircraft! She has had almost every profession known to man, including astronaught and presidential candidate. She is years ahead. She doesn't rely on a man for anything, and she left Ken after 45 years without a wedding proposal! She loves her family, especially her little sisters, and she loves animals. As long as parents teach their children that Barbie is a toy and not a real person, the "plastic princess" effect shouldn't eb an issue!

Crazy things kids do. Got a story?or want to laugh????

We live in Texas. My twins (boys 3 yrs.) outside in the back yard. The one comes in and says Joe peed on the ant hill. He came in . I said ,why did you pee on the ants? He said , they are bad.
Funny it's it.
Do you have a funny facts like this?
GOD BLESS

Answer
LOL...How cute....and I want to share as well....

Several years ago, a Barbie came out who was suppose to be ultra-hip, I guess. She wore a tank top and short denim skirt...and she came with water-based tattoo's that you could put on her...I think she was "butterfly tattoo barbie" or something to that effect. Whatever the name, she was less than classy....my niece had seen this Barbie in a toy store and asked for her....her mom said no, and commented under her breath, she thought, that the barbie looked like a prostitute...

Christmas arrived, and the kids were all opening their presents from their secret Santa, and what did she get, but a butterfly tattoo barbie. she quickly held the box against her chest so that no one could see her barbie...all the other kids were tearing toys from the packages and playing with their new toys...she made her way into a corner of the dining room, sat on the floor, and tears began to flow...

my husband noticed her sitting there crying....he walked over and asked "what's the matter?"

Through her tears, she looked up at him and said, "Everybody got fun toys, and all I got was prostitute barbie...."

you can imagine the laughter we tried to contain, but to no avail....we did get one of the older girls to swap toys with her....but I'll never forget the Christmas with prostitute barbie

Is it wrong for you too keep beer in your refridgerator when you have children in your household?

simple

I have a child with a man whom i do not live with and never married. Now 6yrs later i am married, and have been for 3yrs with another man. i have already went through the custody battle part of things with my daughters father. i have physical custody of my child. and joint legal custody. Her father has not been a big part in raising her for several years now. He was too immature at first, then it went to he signed up for the army and went away and has been away for 2+years now. And any time he talks to me he has something that he wants to point out that he believes i do wrong. One being i keep beer in my fridge. two being i allow my daughter occassionally to place fake tattoo's on her. So my question's are is it okay to have beer in your fridge? And is it okay that when occasionally you get some Barbie or Butterfly washable tatoo's out and let you child attach them? Her Father believes that we should not let her see us drink and if we do to place it in a cup. Please respond also.

Answer
Of course it's ok. It's your fridge. And beer is legal.

About the tattoo stickers: I think they're ok, too. Girls like colorful, sparkly things (my 6-year-old niece loves them too). The good thing about this is that she'll probably grow out of it in a year or two and will never feel the need to get a real tattoo.

It sounds like your ex-husband is just ragging on you to make you feel bad. Don't let him give you a hard time.

Still in original packaging, all tattoos there. How much would you pay for a set of four? Or one?
They had to stop making these b/c of the tattoo factor. Now knowing that they are discontinued, how much would you pay for them?

Answer
I would pay very little more than $5.00 a pop for them NRFB off the internet considering shipping charges.

They're 8 years old (nearly a decade!) and were apparently recalled due to contraversy, but pink box Barbie dolls are so overproduced that it usually takes something very, VERY unusual or popular to make it a big collector's item so soon.

Look on eBay to see how much they typically go for. Not big sellers. They typically run $6.00 a NRFB doll and rarely does anyone even bid. If you really want to sell them, you'll do much better (you might actually get a bid) if you list them altogether as a set.

G'luck and I hope they find a loving home. :)

Dream with video game characters? Interpretation?

SK1303

I do not exactly know how to interpret this dream, anyone else think they can figure it out?:

I was walking in a huge building that was silver. When I was walking around I was all of a sudden on a beach talking to a boy, who ended up being Sora from Kingdom Hearts(video game)He said he had 7 brothers and sisters and that he was engaged. He takes out his hand and shows the ring on his hand. I stare at it and then he takes it off. I start to look at it, His ring had a sky blue stone and the ring itself was silver and engraved with hearts. I thought it was pretty ,but was upset at the fact that he was engaged and also confused that he had such a feminine ring. All of a sudden I appeared in the silver building again where the girl, Kairi appeared and she had some butterfly tattoo on her lower back. She gave me some smirk. I ended up feeling very sad. I appeared with Sora at a mall. All of a sudden I was in front of a store called, Covergirl. Tyra Banks showed up and said something to me. She said she didn't like the other Covergirl store that was next to hers. It had a jungle appearance on the outside of the store. Tyra and a big group of hers walked away. I decided to walk into the store to see what it was like. I wanted to help the woman in the store. We decided to go up to the second floor of the store. The room was pretty dark. The floor on the first floor had a glass look to it was glowing. People were dancing on it and me and the woman on the second floor took out some Bratz barbie dolls and threw them down at the people.

All I can really say is, I am a big fan of Kingdom Hearts and that Sora is one of my favourite characters. I do know who Tyra Banks is and all ,but I haven't even thought of her at all so I don't know why she appeared, of all people in my dream.

Any possible interpretations of my dream?

Also if you do not know who these characters are I have some sites you can check out that could help maybe with interpreting the dream:

Do not know Tyra Banks? Go here:

What exactly is this dream trying to message me or whatever? Like what's with the whole seven brothers and sister and an engagement ring? Also with the whole Covergirl thing? I am not very fond of make-up. I'm not very big into the fashion and make-up industry stuff.

i plan on getting a tattoo soon..but i don't know whether to have it done with a gun..or with calligraphy...which hurts less? and i want stars or paw prints on my foot or a heart on the side of my wrist..what are some other good ides? pics would help
