i admit tattooing has become quite mainstream these days. along with punk. people don't even know the history of punk and tattoos and such... they just get em cuz the media tells them too. how sad.

i love tattoos. i love it when an individual gets a memorial, uses their OWN ART, or has it customized. i do hate the banner, panther, and butterfly tattoos. they mean nothing and people just want to "be cool"

it's body art. i'm an artist and see beauty in them... well some of them.

as for your friend... is he afraid of tattoos? tell that pansy to suck it up and wear a diaper... THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!

I want a tattoo to represent freedom/love/strength but i'm not quite sure what to get anymore, i want it to be meaningful, not in colour, i dont really want to get a butterfly or something, i was thinking in like chinese writing, or a nicer writing that that, any ideas on nice writing?
or any other ideas to help me?
ok i was thinking tibetan writing but i dont know what id put, cause i want it to represent freedom strength and love. also how will i know if its the correct writing?

I want my name written in arabic writing for a tattoo, but that is because that language is significant to me( my dad is arabic) a good idea is to trace your family history and if you find any foreign people use that language? but arabic is very pretty and so is chinese

1It was a sign of their gods and religious thoughts.

2In Aztec aristocracy everyone used a tattoo according to the level. For example, the Huey Tlahtoani (Aztec King) used one on his hole back called "Xochiquetzalpapalotl", flower-beauty butterfly, a kind of mixture between a butterfly and a flower.

3In the army, according to the range.

You can see some of this tattoos at the Anthropology and History National Museum of Mexico City, at the Mexica hall.

Very often, when someone is considering their 1st tattoo, their immediate idea is either stereotypical, trendy, or limited in some way. This is because, they are new to the idea, and do not realize the broad scope of ideas that have and have not been used in a tattoo.
So, take your time, there is no hurry. And realize that anything can become your body art. Pretend that you never heard of tattoos, pretend that you have never seen one, then what would you put as an image on your body as a tattoo? And where would you put it, if you hadn't already had the image of a lower back tattoo in your head.
If you are honest with this, you will be amazed at your thoughts and how creative and personal they are.
