I found that my butterfly on my lower ab/hip area hurt a little more than the tattoo above my shoulder blades did. If you even have a tiny stretch mark and the artist tattoo's it, that's what hurts. The further south it is the more it hurts. Like then tips of the bottom wings are what hurt a little.

But, i am worried that one day if i ever decide to have children, when i am pregnant the tattoo will stretch and look bad after i have the kid. Should i not get the tattoo there because of stretching? Or do you think it will still look fine one day?

My wife has a butterfly tattoo on her lower stomach and right now she is nine months pregnant. The once little butterfly now looks like an eagle! =)

I have two tattoos, and I got them both before I was 20. One is on my stomach (BAD!), and now that I've been with child, what used to be a butterfly is now a terradactyl. It's all stretched and ugly. I hate it. My other tatto is a parrot behind my right shoulder. I got it to cover up the home-done initials of a boyfriend I got when I was 14 (it was a new years party, free tattos for everyone, I thought what the hell). I've had to re-colour the parrot several times because after about 2 years it fades and looks like crap. I also don't know what I was thinking when I chose to get a parrot tattooed to my shoulder - Aye!Aye! Matey! However, at the time I thought it represented beauty, freedom, and the earth... blech.

So, in short. I hate my tattoos (I'm 29 now, so I've had them for at least 9+ years), and I would not reccomend a tattoo. But my friend Mineko got the word Truth, or maybe Joy, tattooed in japanese letters to her ankle when she was in highschool, and that's still cool. It's just black and simple. Stay away from colours.

If I didnt feel a belly piercing would a tattoo on my right shoulder hurt?

I had my belly done a year ago and I want a tattoo of a butterfly, medium sized, on the back of my shoulder. Also, five birds on my waist, below my stomach. Biggest bird will be the size of a penny.
do you think this would be a troubling tattoo?

I have my belly pierced and have a few tattoos too..to be honest,i'd go through the belly piercing any day compared to a tattoo!..However,a shoulder tat hurt me a lot less than the one beside my belly piercing..that said,my feet were even worse than that! I'd say,go for one and see how you get on,some people have a better pain threshold than others,you might be fine! 8)

I particularly like the idea of a butterfly, angel's wings or flower (maybe rose w/thorns) w/either both names or just initials - here are some other ideas:

but i also really hate when people get tattos that are supposed to look like something eles, like the ankle braclet ones and rings and braclets.... ummm oh! and when people get things that are really common like stars and butterflies and lizards on the back of their shoulder. hmmm, also dream catchers get on my nerves a lot - i love them and what they mean but common? on your stomach or side? thats ridiculos lol
