Tattoo ideas, suggestions. lower back/female?

Im getting a lower back tattoo done & for the center piece im doing a butterfly, really cute butterfly outline and the main design is gonna be MY eyes, ((like watch my back, eyes in the back of your head idea)) then the designs in the wings around my eyes ill decide later along w/ colors but im looking for ideas to put on the sides of my tatt- tribal lines, swirls, [example, flowers but i dont want flowers] what else is there??? depending what colors i choose for the actual center i can put in the side designs as well but i dont want it toooo mainstream, considering what type of tatt its already going to be... any ideas?

im not gonna tell you that a tramp stamp is trashy cuz i personally dont think they are. actually i think they are very attractive, as long as its not some generic design. however, you say you dont want something too "mainstream" but youre getting a butterfly.. thats mainstream! 9 out of 10 ladies i know that have lower back tats have a butterfly and/or some generic tribal design. the one girl that has something original is the one that has the most attractive piece.
anyways.. put some more thought into it. youre on the right track with the eyes thing.. but i think that will look kinda silly. just keep brainstorming and you can easily come up with something beautiful and original.
but if youre stuck on the butterfly thing.. well good luck.

Okay, so I really want a tattoo.. I'm scared of needles but I think I could try to handle it. I'm not that big on pain haha, so I was wondering if any of you have advice on where it would hurt less? I want a butterfly on my shoulder.. not sure if I want it that small.. hmm.. help!?

Wow. Okay, so no matter where you get it, it is going to hurt. But if you get a small tattoo like you are planning, then your pain will be short lived. Also, the design you choose could be a factor. If you choose a design that is nearly all filled, you will be in the chair longer and find yourself in more pain, whereas if you get stricltly an outline and minor shading, you'll be out of there in now time. But, I think you will find that after five minutes or so, it isn't "white-knuckle gripping" pain, rather "annoying, ouchy, I wish it were done pain". And when it's done you'll feel so proud of yourself. And if you are getting a tattoo around your shoulder, make it the shoulder blade. I once saw a woman with five or six small, colorful butterflies on her shoulder blade all with their wings in mid flap in varying positions...it was rather lovely. If you decide that you don't mind the pain so much, you can always add to a shoulder blade tattoo with something along the same theme.

Can you cover a tattoo with a tattoo?

I have the outline of the biohazard symbol on my upperback.
It's just the outline and only in black, probably 3 inches tall and 3 inches wide.

I wanted to get a fairly large dragon and maybe some water or something in the background that could cover up the outline of the biohazard symbol.
This dragon would take time and lots of money of course, which I am willing, and will possibly have color, if not just black and white.

Is this possible with a good tattoo artist, and does anyone have any stories like this?

A friend of mine recently covered an old tattoo she didn't want people to see with a butterfly. The designs in the butterfly camouflaged the old design (dragon scales could do the same thing) and you can not see the old design at all. It looks good.

What do you think about birth dates written in Roman Numerals?

I want to get both of my daughters' names & their birth dates but I'm torn between using regular numbers or roman numerals. What do you think? Any other ideas are appreciated too. :)

I love tattoos and I think its a great idea to do either one.

Just remember to look at several tattooists and their art. And remember they are people in sales trying to sell their skill and they may lie to you about it so look at their art and ask people in there about them. And often other tattoo parlors will bash others so pay no attention to it.

I think the roman numerals would be the better idea. The more you spend the better it is usually. The better the tattooist the better the skill the more it costs.

I would first think of what do they like- there favorite colors, and so on. Their personalities make it be expressed in the tattoo.

For a example I got my sons name tattooed on my inner wrist in fancy cursive. His favorite color is blue and he was a wild personality. He is 3 and very energetic. So when I got his name tattooed on me I got it in crazy cursive- fancy with loops and sharp tips. I got it shadowed in blue. great contrast with the black. I also have his astrology star constellation in basic lighter blue behind it.

So if I was you I would put a lot of thoughts into the design, the size, the money, and who does it and where. They will be there for life so dont be afraid to put in extra cash for something amazing.

If it was me I would tattoo their birth dates in roman numerals in a (011089) month month day day year year or something format. And have it outlined in black with their favorite colors and stuff in them. Like if they love purple it could be 3 shades of purple and maybe a redish shade also. So many options. I hope it works out amazing.

I seen something before that was a pretty decent size tattoo of their kids initials. It was like three inch wide letters that wrapped around the bottom of the wrist and sides and in the inside of it instead of just color filling it was butterflies. Looked awesome.

Look at tattoos on google images, the local tattoo parlors and so on. I am sure you will find something awesome. Just make sure the tattooist is awesome.

Someone can have a awesome idea but the artist sucks therefor it comes out bad. Remember to ask them what do they suggest for after care- soaps, what kind and when to lotion and so on.

what are the grooming standards for a girl in the army?

Ive been told a million different things from a million different people. Im joining the amry ina few months and one of the things they keep telling me or different people keep telling me is im gonna have to change my hair first, grow out my bangs, cut my hair short, cant have it died has to be my natural hair color..blha blah blah...can someone please tell me what the real answer is! Female haircuts will conform to the following standards:

Females will ensure their hair is neatly groomed, that the length and bulk of the hair are not excessive, and that the hair does not present a ragged, unkempt, or extreme appearance. Likewise, trendy styles that result in shaved portions of the scalp (other than the neckline) or designs cut into the hair are prohibited. Females may wear braids and cornrows as long as the braided style is conservative, the braids and cornrows lie snugly on the head, and any hairholding devices comply with the standards below. Dreadlocks (unkempt, twisted, matted individual parts of hair) are prohibited in uniform or in civilian clothes on duty. Hair will not fall over the eyebrows or extend below the bottom edge of the collar at any time during normal activity or when standing in formation. Long hair that falls naturally below the bottom edge of the collar, to include braids, will be neatly and inconspicuously fastened or pinned, so no free-hanging hair is visible. This includes styles worn with the physical fitness uniform/improved physical fitness uniform (PFU/IPFU).

Styles that are lopsided or distinctly unbalanced are prohibited. Ponytails, pigtails, or braids that are not secured to the head (allowing hair to hang freely), widely spaced individual hanging locks, and other extreme styles that protrude from the head are prohibited. Extensions, weaves, wigs, and hairpieces are authorized; however, these additions must have the same general appearance as the individualâs natural hair. Additionally, any wigs, extensions, hairpieces, or weaves must comply with the grooming policies set forth in this paragraph.

Females will ensure that hairstyles do not interfere with proper wear of military headgear and protective masks or equipment at any time. When headgear is worn, the hair will not extend below the bottom edge of the front of the headgear, nor will it extend below the bottom edge of the collar.

Hair-holding devices are authorized only for the purpose of securing the hair. Soldiers will not place hairholding devices in the hair for decorative purposes. All hair-holding devices must be plain and of a color as close to the soldierâs hair as is possible or clear. Authorized devices include, but are not limited to, small, plain scrunchies (elastic hair bands covered with material), barrettes, combs, pins, clips, rubber bands, and hair bands. Devices that are conspicuous, excessive, or decorative are prohibited. Some examples of prohibited devices include, but are not limited to, large, lacy scrunchies; beads, bows, or claw clips; clips, pins, or barrettes with butterflies, flowers, sparkles, gems, or scalloped edges; and bows made from hairpieces.

As with hairstyles, the requirement for standards regarding cosmetics is necessary to maintain uniformity and to avoid an extreme or unmilitary appearance. Females are authorized to wear cosmetics with all uniforms, provided they are applied conservatively and in good taste and complement the uniform. Leaders at all levels must exercise good judgment in the enforcement of this policy.

Females may wear cosmetics if they are conservative and complement the uniform and their complexion. Eccentric, exaggerated, or trendy cosmetic styles and colors, to include makeup designed to cover tattoos, are inappropriate with the uniform and are prohibited. Permanent makeup, such as eyebrow or eyeliner, is authorized as long as the makeup conforms to the standards outlined above.

Females will not wear shades of lipstick and nail polish that distinctly contrast with their complexion, that detract from the uniform, or that are extreme. Some examples of extreme colors include, but are not limited to, purple, gold, blue, black, white, bright (fire-engine) red, khaki, camouflage colors, and fluorescent colors. Soldiers will not apply designs to nails or apply two-tone or multi-tone colors to nails.

Females will comply with the cosmetics policy while in any military uniform or while in civilian clothes on duty.

All personnel will keep fingernails clean and neatly trimmed. Females will not exceed a nail length of 1/4 inch, as measured from the tip of the finger. Females will trim nails shorter if the commander determines that the longer length detracts from the military image, presents a safety concern, or interferes with the performance of duties.

I have this friend that got a matching tattoo with her friend back in the day. Needless to say, theyre no longer friends and she wanted to turn the tattoo into possibly a flower or sumthin. Any suggestions?!?!? Heres the tattoo. THANKS!!!
