Foot Tat. Questions-Please Need Help From Tattoo Artist on Pain, Cost, Etc.?

Please help esp. if you are a tattoo artist or have experience...
I want to get this butterfly but on my left foot (already got 2 tat's on my right side ha). I have a tat on my ankle and butt and 2 piercings but I swear I hate needles. How painful do you think this would be and about how long do you think it would take?
And what do you think an average for price would be for it? Do you think an artist could copy this exactly? I sure hope so I've wanted it for years...
Do you guys think this would look dumb since the butterfly faces towards me and not outward? Or think it would look ok otherwise?

I've seen better butterflies, but it's cute if that is what you're going for. I prefer the realistic looking butterflies myself. But this tattoo is for you, so if you like the design, then do it. I wouldn't be too concerned with the pain for a tattoo of that size, even if the location is on your foot. Setting up for the tattoo will take longer than the actual tattooing I imagine, and yes, the artist should be able to copy that exactly. It's a very simple design. You'll be paying the shop minimum for that tattoo because it will take less than an hour, so you're looking at anywhere from between 40-80 dollars, depending on the shops prices. Don't forget to tip.

I have a blue and purple butterfly in a realistic style (it looks like it just landed on my shoulder) and soon to have "The sounds of a piano rebounded, dissonance in my head" around it. It's a work in progress xD

It's based off my favorite song, Butterfly on your right shoulder, and I LOVE the tat :)

But if you would want something more original, look up symbols that represent stuff like determination and all that on google and find something your like :)

Simpler Tattoos: the person didn't want to commit to anything- got something on a whim. Is too scared to get a larger tattoo. thought tattoos looked 'cool', jumped on the bandwagon without putting any actual thought into their artwork

Complex Tattoos: Someone is artistic, took the time to create a unique piece. Original, individual person.

Dedication tattoos: sentimental, respect for their elders, respect for family etc.

So before people say anything, I'm not getting the tattoo until I am 18, which is in two months. I been wanting a tattoo for a few years now, even though my parents would kill me if they found out. Anyways I'm first going to show you the tattoo I want so that you can answer my questions.

Okay so the first question would be how much money should that cost?
The next one is can the tattoo artist make it just like that, because I have seen other images and I don't like them like I like that one because it looks realistic.
Also, I want to put it on my lower back center. Is that a good spot, and how is that area for tattooing when it comes to pain?
(I don't want the flowers around the butterfly, I just want the Tiger Butterfly).

Actually I do want the flowers there I'm just not sure about it because if you look at the picture, the girl's tattoo is slanted and i want mine going straight across my lower back (horizontally). So if you think it would look good going straight across from the wings (one side of the wings to the other) let me know cause I would do that, instead of it going slanted vertically.

Without color & light shading at the shop I go to that would be around $150-200, price usually depends on the shop & quality of the artist's work. I can't give a price for color because I have black ink.

The lower back is a large area & shading hurts like a mother. Areas with little fat, or are bone-y like your feet, knees, wrist, etc. usually hurt more than other places. Some people say the opposite, I guess it depends on you.

Like you, I thought over the idea of getting a tattoo for years, to me the pain was worth it.

A talented tattoo artist can make that easily, they can alter it too if you want to make it unique.

well im from the detroit area myself, and ive been to American Pride tattoo, on woodward and catapla. They are very clean. And ive seen the man that works there, in his 20-30 and his work is very good. My other place would be eternal tattoo. I know of the one on 14 mile and crooks road. Its brand new, its only been there for about 2-3 years, i know theres another branch on 10 and gratiot heres the link, just click locations and you can see which artists are at which one and most of them have websites

I plan on getting a half or quarter sleeve tattoo on my right arm. I want it to have a vintage look to it, and I want everything to look realistic rather than cartoon-ish. I want lilies, roses, other flowers, mixed with birds (swallows), one hummingbird, and a few butterflies as well.

Is there anything else in your opinion that would look good and mesh with that kind of tattoo? What are your opinions?

I think that will be quite enough already.Otherwise it will have to be too crammy and you will lose a lot of details along with the aesthetic quality of it.And using swallows and flowers etc. together (in real life they have quite a difference in size) in a small surface kind of destroys the use of relative perspective which is essential if you want a realistic tattoo.

But as far as ideas go you could try out dragonflies, water droplets on flowers always work if you want a realistic touch (dew), maybe a little spider web underneath a leaf, maybe a ladybug etc.

I've got a charm bracelet that runs down the middle of my back along my spine. Each of the charms represents something different. It hurt like heck to get it done there though, but I'm very happy with it, and I also think it looks very nice when wearing a tank top or something with a low back. My brother also just got one done, he got a realistic heart tattooed on his arm because "he wears his heart on his sleeve".

i want a koi fish with water on my forearm, and a dragon with flames (it would be custom made) on my upper becuase it symbolizes change and growth, but everyone says that it is a bad idea becuase everyone who has a tattoo sleeve has koi fish and dragons, i want an original tattoo, but i like this idea, are there any similair less popular ideas?

Popular tattoos are popular for a reason - they have a universal meaning that most people understand immediately, plus they usually have some sort of cultural/historical significance, like Sailor Jerry tattoos and traditional Japanese/Chinese style tattoos. If you want a koi fish and a dragon, then get them. If you are getting a custom piece then it will be made for you - the artist will design a piece that fits your body and whatever message you're trying to convey through your tattoo, so no one else will have one exactly like yours. It helps to bring in pictures of other tattoos or flash designs you like, but stress to the artist that you just want certain elements from each picture in your custom piece. You could try playing with designs and styles, for example, I want a koi fish tattoo but I want one that is more feminine and "pretty" than the traditional ones you see on most people. Maybe you want it to look a little more realistic as opposed to traditional tattoo style, or maybe you want to play with the colors.

There are a lot of other things that could represent change and growth. I'm a big animal nerd so pretty much all of my tattoos are of animals, but any animal or bug that goes through a metamorphosis could represent change and growth, like butterflies, frogs, salamanders, cicadas, etc. You could even get a phoenix tattoo, which are more commonly associated with rebirth or invincibility, but those ideas are pretty closely related to the things you want to portray.

Either way, talk to your artist. They'll be able to work with you to get exactly what you want down on paper.

I love this style rather than the more realistic ones, but I would get one in an olive green colour... depends on your skin tone.
