Suzie Q
hi! I am looking into getting a tattoo for myself. I really like fairies, butterflies and girly kinds of art. I want it to be meaningful. I have been looking all over the internet, and I can't find something I really like. I really don't want to get something that someone else already has. I want it to be original.. Something that means something to me. Should I find a tattoo artists that could draw me up something? I suck at drawing so I know I won't be able to draw something up for myself.. I am kinda confused on exactly what I want, but I know I want something along the lines of a fairy or butterfly, or maybe even something that signifies my zodiac, scorpio. Maybe I could get somethin that has all three of those in the tattoo. Any suggestions? I don't want to get it done until I am sure. I know it is something that will always be there.

how much does a small tattoo cost?
Answer
Every tattoo shop charges based on different things. Some go by the size of the tattoo, and others charge based on the amount of time it takes to do the tattoo.
Usually they have a minimum price (as someone else mentioned). I don't live in a rural area, but it's not a BIG city, and the shop minimums around here are about $40 as well.
The place I go to is a minimum of $40, which you have to pay upfront when you make you're appointment as a deposit that will be deducted from you're total tattoo cost once you've gotten you're tattoo. It's how they make sure people really show up for their appointments and don't have a ton of no shows.
Basically - each tattoo shop has a different system for how they do things. I suggest just going to a couple different places, telling them what you want and get an estimate from them.
Here's some places you can look at a bunch of different butterfly designs...

http://www.tattoofinder.com/find_tattooDB.asp?txtKeyword=butterfly&Ktype=1&txtIsAdult=yes&NewSearch=yes

But don't choose where to get you're tattoo based JUST on price. Make sure you're going to a reputable shop.
