I'm going to paste an excerpt from my novel in here.
Can you please tell me if you'd read this book if it was based off this?

Being a Hunter is like being a superhero, but more complicated. Hunter isnât a last name. Itâs a brand. The tattoos that brand our bodies prove it. The tattoos hold different colors, as if we have a galaxy burning through our skin. We all have individual tattoos on our upper arms and the backs of our necks. The tattoo on my arm is a spiral shape, resembling a butterfly with sharp wings. The galaxy glow that frames it is purple, pink and black with tiny dots that resemble stars and glows faintly in the dark â itâs weird to say I have a mini flashlight on my arm; even weirder to say I have one burning from my skin.

When youâre a Hunter, itâs your job â more like a responsibility â to keep every Territory in order. We do nightly rounds to check up on the Territories (the wolves, mer-folk, fairies, warlocks, witches, ghosts and regular humans). Weâre basically the Order. The glue that keeps this complicated society together. We shield the humans from seeing paranormals and protect the paranormals from being spotted and hunted. Whenever we get an Alert at the Compound, no matter how small or stupid we know its gunna be, we have to go to that Territory and see whatâs up. So itâs kinda like a job; a sucky one at that.

But thatâs the only sucky part about being a Hunter. The bright side â the really freaking sweet side â is that we really are like superheroesâ or super humans. Each Hunter has acute hearing. We can hear things that are very far away as if itâs right beside us (right now I can hear the faint sounds of ants crawling over the dirt.) Our sight is strengthened, sharper; more detailed (walking around in almost pitch-darkness it feels like its only twilight even though its half past midnight.) Our reflexes are faster â thanks to being trained while we were young. We could probably out run a cheetah if we wanted. Even our senses of smell and touch are more intensified than regular humans.
Well, I guess it could be a bad thing . . . if I were trapped in a room with a guy who stank to high heavens and a girl who canât sing well at all. Thatâd be hell. And I hope it never happens.

& any advice to make this better would be helpful, too.

Eh, it doesn't really seem to my my thing, but I'd be happy yo give you a bit of advice. :)

First off, you're giving a huge info dump. That's kind of a no-no when it comes to writing. "Show, not tell" is what you should be aiming for, and this just tells you everything up front. Is there a way you could write this that blended into the happenings of the story? Maybe something like "I glanced at the tattoo on his arm, a tiny galaxy etched into his skin. The mark of a Hunter. He caught me watching and laughed "Not everyone's brands can be cute little butterflies.""

This is just my opinion, but I really like it when important background information is woven into the story instead of being presented in a paragraph or two at the beginning.

The best thing you can do is a bit of footwork. It is much more productive and personal to get off the internet and put in the extra effort anyway, I promise.

Go to some tattoo studios and look through portfolios just to get ideas (this will help you find an artist you like as well). Go to a bookstore and geek out on art books, graphic novels, botany books, old lithographs, whatever inspires you. Brainstorm about people and things and books and poems that mean something to you.

Once you have some ideas, find an artist who is trustworthy, works in a clean environment with an autoclave system, and whose style you like, and schedule a consultation with that artist. Consults are always free. Tell him/her your ideas, show pictures, what ever inspires you, and together you'll be able to design a unique tattoo that will be perfect for you. No one else will have it, and you won't look at it in 5, 10, 15, 20 years and go, "Why the hell did I get that butterfly?"
