This is merely for a little creative fun on YA.

1. A song by the Beatles
2. A vintage tv comedy.
3. An amusement park ride.
4. A talk show host.
5. A book from the OLD Testament.
âºâ¢â¢âº AND THERE IS THIS ONE:

Answer
Genesis Butterfly
Adam and Eve were relaxing naked one perfect day in Eden when something totally unexpected happened.
Out of the perfect blue sky fell an odd machine that landed quite close to the couple.
Adam and Eve looked upon the machine as they would anything else in the Garden. After all, what else could it be but perfect?
They showed no self-consciousness of their perfectly naked bodies when a strange man appeared from out of the yellow submarine shaped machine.
His scraggly blond hair, colorful clothes and unkempt beard stood in marked contrast to everything around him.
"Whoa, man...it worked! That was better than a Coney Island roller coaster ride," he said, and began walking toward Adam and Eve. "Hey, are you Adam and Eve?"
They looked upon him. Not judging him, nor responding to him, just enjoying their day, and this strange new man in the Garden.
"Hey, it's cool to be naked here, right," he said as he began peeling off his shirt.
"Where I come from it's really square, man. I can't believe this worked. Hope I can get back."
A life size tattoo of talk show host Merv Griffin's head sprawled across his back.
"So, what do you guys do for fun around here, man? Do you party," he said and winked at Eve.
After an awkward silence for him, he said, "Hey you guys like the Beatles? Wait what am I saying? You haven't heard the Beatles yet. I'm going to blow your minds, man."
The scraggly, shirtless man walked over to the yellow machine, and a few seconds later Twist and Shout began playing from the inside.
Adam and Eve were moved by the music so they began to dance.
From behind the closing doors of his machine, the man waved at Adam and Eve and said, "I want to go to the future now...like the Jetsons," as he flew away.
Some say Eden was never the same after that day. Eve became increasingly bored, and rebellious and...

Yes, I do consider The Jetsons to be vintage tv comedy!

does it hurt to get a tattoo are your lower stomache more than a normal tattoo?

zoe

this is my first one. i'm 15 and getting something sentimental to me and my heritage, nothing stupid like a butterfly or a heart or a boys name. life in greek, because it's what my name means across my lower stomache, right above the girly area so it's hidden. and i'm nervous it's gonna be sore? and also how long can i not swim cause i'm doing water polo? help..

Answer
Yeah, it'll be sensitive, but you'll get through it, everyone does. You might ask your artist if he'll use a machine with eight wrap coils, pretty please? It'll hurt a little less, that way. No swimming for two and a half weeks. Till you can run your hand across it, after the scab comes off, and it's smooth. Take care.

What does getting a tattoo on your forearm feel like?

butterfly tattoo forearm image
Q. I know its a question that's always asked, but what is the best way to describe what getting a tattoo on your inner forearm feel forsake? I'm getting a coloured butterfly about 3 inches up from my wrist and I just want to know what to expect as it is my first tattoo. The artist has told me to eat and drink before going and all the basics and has told me that its an hour and a half worth of work so I'm kind of nervous about the pain. Any help would be appreciated, Many Thanks :-)

Answer
The forearm is one of the least painful spots on the body to be tattooed, so stop worrying and get your tattoo.

What should I get for my first tattoo?

Logan

I'm 16 years old with some thin(yet deep enough to not disappear) self harm scars taking up the top of my left inner forearm. I decided to have them covered up (which my mother is all for by the way). The tattoo has to mean something. My ideas were a crown, an anatomical butterfly, a dragonfly, two crossed arrows, or a small quote. ( Im up for new tasteful ideas, though.) Im not asking for anyone to tell me to wait, or say I'm too young because my scars aren't fading and I went through a lot when I made them so I don't want them to just disappear. I want something to represent my struggle with depression and suicide. I need tasteful suggestions and opinions.

Answer
Something about Jesus.

Jesus Christ took the sins and pain of all mankind on him.
So therefor I think that would be the perfect tattoo over scars.

If you're going to answer please give me a serious reply/answer to my questions not tell me what design to get or not to get.

Answer
I have a tattoo on the upper slope of my right breast (the breast cancer ribbon surrounded by a heart). It didn't hurt at all. The one you have in mind is a little more intricate than mine but I doubt it will be all that painful. Uncomfortable, yes but not too bad.

That tattoo may take a bit...an hour or more. It has a lot of fine lines. Post a photo when it's done...I'd like to see how the finished product turns out.

I'm on way to getting back into drawing. I was very good and focused on it for most of my life but it came to a point that I didn't have time to draw which sucked. So I'm trying to start by doing some peopls tattoo designs. I'm not going to steal them or anything, I just want to get some ideas flowing.
Thanks. I'm a little rough with portraits still so

Answer
I have a name and a rose on my back and also a rosary bead cross as well. I have interlocking hearts with Samoan patterns around it (reps my fiance and his family) and writing above and under it. I am planning on getting "faith" written on my wrist and hope on my other wrist. I want another cross with a rose intertwining on it on my inner arm. I want butterflies going up my back with words for each one repping my family AND a RIP tattoo for my Dad.

I have a big scar on my lower back and alot of scar tissue. It looks like the middle of a butterfly and I want to have the outline of butterflu wings put on the side of it to make it look like a butterfly. Can you help me with sites that I can look at some butterfly tattoos?

Answer
Sure honey! Some tattoo artists are leary of working on scar tissue because of the overall quality but good ones incorporate it with a design to blend. I know a girl with scars all over her arms and they camoflauged them beautifully. A few women with breast cancer scars had it done and you do not even notice them. Good for you for turning something into a positive and including it with the art! ROCK ON SISTER!

What is the best type of tattoo for your first?

butterfly tattoo designs small image
Q. I was thinking a heartagram on my wrist or something of that sort. OR is it better to get a large tattoo for your first? To get use to the ink work... I don't know, that's what I've heard from a friend.

Answer
I got a smaller one (it's only about 2/3 inches) and I got it in a spot that no one else could see it. It's at my hip bone, and I made sure it was a design that I would like in years to come. Something that would undoubtedly still represent me in 50 years. I got a music note and a butterfly. It's beautiful.

It was painful because it was on my hip bone and a tiny bit around my pubic area. It only took about a half hour to do, but I still got a good taste of how painful it was.

I think I'll go bigger for my next one, but I definitely think you should start small so that way you end up with something you can handle (pain-wise), and something that is easily covered by clothes/etc if you decide it's not the best idea.

What's a good tattoo for a girl that's small and not a stereotypically feminine?

Cybele

I'm 20 and have been thinking about getting a small tattoo somewhere on my back or calf. However, I don't really want a butterfly or flowers or a typically "feminine" tattoos. My tastes tend towards the off-kilter, literary, or esoteric. Any suggestions? Pictures would be appreciated

Answer
i'm twenty too and have been searching for a meaningfull and unique tattoo. i suggest you get a tattoo of cherry blossoms.

yes, they are feminine being flowers, but i discovered that they are japan's national flower symbol. it's called sakura in japan and appear in spring but die shortly after its blossoms show. it represent the transiency of life- that like the sakura, "life is beautiful, but fleeting."

it may be pretty but still tough especially when you get to know it's meaning. personally, this is what i'll be getting for myself. below is a website you can search for great tattoo art and designs. use the keywords "cherry blossom tattoo" "sakura" to get see pics of a tattoo.

I've been thinking about getting a tattoo but I'm not sure what to get exactly. Any good ideas? And once I decide what to get, what safety precautions should I take about the place, the artist, and the healing?

Answer
PLEASE oh PLEASE do NOT get a butterfly or something stupid like that.

WE (real) tattoo artists are sick of doing mundane, picked off the wall work, that you saw on your cousins, uncle's wife's babydaddy's mom's ankle.

Be original, draw the design yourself based on what you feel and where the pencil takes you. Then take it to a shop where you get a good vibe from the people behind the counter. If they can fix up the drawing and you like how they feel, then proceed, otherwise...stay a plainskin.

How can I convince my g/f to accept new friend with tattoo's?

So much is happening here in India. Esperanza and I are finally starting to relax now that we've identified the place where we want to get Ryan his tat. Thanks for the suggestions, everybody! We still have to book the appointment.

Anyway, remember that âbackpackerâ we saw getting tattooed at Baby Tiger Tattoo in Randi Market? We ended up seeing her in a âdhabaâ (like a diner) with her boyfriend....and their little one! It turns out they are Israeli. So we chatted with them and about their tattoo experience. Aleah (the backpacker) has a whole bunch of tattooâs. She has:
- a white tiger on her left ankleâ¨
- two tigers with Chinese symbolâs for best friends in between on left shoulderâ¨
- memorial for her dead ferret on right ankleâ¨
- a dragonfly on right shoulder
- a dragonfly on wrist â that was the one we saw her getting!

She told us the story behind each one, and we were very touched. So meaningful! All I can say is that we are VERY anxious (in a good way)!

Their daughter, Netanya, is around 7 monthâs, so she and Ryan got along well. Aleah and Namir (bf) invited us to go hiking with them in Dharamsala â that is up in the mountainâs where the Dalai Lama lives!!!

We really want to go, but there is one small problem. As you know, Esperanza thinks women with tattooâs are sort of trashy.....I know, I know....she canât help it though, itâs her cultural upbringing. I think itâs ironic because Aleah and Namir are Israeli and they are not âsupposedâ to get tattooâs either...Ranza doesnât get the irony.

Help! What can I do to convince her otherwise??? I REALLY want to go to Dharamsala (and I know she would enjoy it, too)....

Answer
I have been following this saga from the beginning, From the dragonfly picture that I saw from the "Baby Tiger" artist, she is an amazing artist and I am sure that this backpacker's other ink is amazing as well! I really can't wait to see a picture of the ferret tattoo if you can get one because I lost my pet rat a while ago, and I have been looking for a memorial tattoo design on the internet and haven't been able to find one! I think with a picture of the memorial tattoo for the back packer's ferret in hand, I might be able to go to my artist and get my tattoo started! I mean without an exact picture of what you want, how can you expect your artist to get the tattoo right?!?
But I digress...
Anyway, if Esperanza has seen the amazing art that on this woman, and she still thinks that tattoos on women are trashy, then there is no changing her mind! I mean, it is pretty much the same as someone seeing Jesus perform a miracle live, right in front of them, and them still not believing! At this point there may be no hope. However, before your friends start off on their journey, can you please get the ferret pic and email it to me? my address is tribal_and_butterflies_ and_rats_4 ever @ tat.com (take out the spaces).
Thanks and good luck with Ranza!

How would you perceive an attractive female with a not so girly tattoo?

butterfly tattoo neck girl

butterfly tattoo neck girl image

Nikki

but not manly at all! just not the average hearts, butterflies, all that unoriginal stuff (no offense they look cute and all!) haha

something alittle more. for example a tattoo like angelina's, megan fox's tats etc?

i personally love them and it makes them a little endearing and mysterious, its not something you'd expect from a pretty girl. makes her unique

def. badass! what do you guys think? just curious?

Answer
i personally think that not so feminine tattoos are hot on women, and all the guys ive dated would def. agree.

most of the guys ive dated or been interested in, ive met because they noticed my tattoos and were intrigued, which is not very common for pretty young girls to be very heavily tattooed. [i mean, two sleeves, full chest piece, feet, ribs, one calf, piece on the neck behind the ear.. pretty heavy]

i mean, you'll never be able to get EVERYONE you ask to agree that theyre hot or not, but from my experience and from people i know, heavy tattoos or not feminine tattoos on women are extremely hot.

at the same time, i do get weird looks, or ive had an old woman say to me "those are for ugly girls" or things like that. i do have people ask "why such a pretty young girl would do that to herself", so yes, there will always be haters. but get a tattoo for yourself, not for the rest of society!!

tattoos are also starting to be a lot more socially acceptable these days-- almost everyone, even a community's most-respected people, are getting tatted up now!

how long would it take to get a tiny tattoo and how much would it hurt?

stephanie

I just saw a picture of a tiny heart (about a quarter of an inch) on the back of the neck of a girl and I feel in love. I was just wondering if anyone knew how long it might take and/or how much it may hurt.

Answer
probably 5-7 minutes, at least that's what i think my coworker would take to finish it.
I got the back of my neck tattooed on friday, i got a butterfly and above it said "I'll spread my wings and fly". It took 14 minutes to finish and it didn't hurt, I thought it was annoying cuz of the gun's noise and it felt like my neck was vibrating. Its different for everyone, for others it might hurt more. It depends on your pain tolerance.

I heard that numbing spray actually affects the outcome of your tattoo and possibly make it look crappy.

Deandra

I have been wanting a tattoo similar to Sahar from the Real World New Orelans and Elina from ANTM cycle 11. I think it looks delicate and feminine, but I don't know if it will always look good. What do you think?

Answer
I think their tattoos are really good and they will always look good. But I would like to recommend you some other tattoo designs because tattoo designs must be unique, you don't need to copy their tattoo. If you are looking for some feminine & delicate tattoo designs then in my view butterfly and fairy look good on arms. Let's see on this girl having a wonderful tattoos of butterfly on her arm. we think Both women and butterflies have wonderful, curvy forms. They both have delicate, soft texture and are very pleasing to the eye. Tattoo of butterflies can be any size is also important.

How much would a Butterfly tattoo on my lower back cost?

Dina

The size is rather small. I know the price depends on the place and quality as well, but I want to know how much a great quality tattoo would cost approximately.
Thanks

Answer
A.. lower back + Butterfly = Tramp stamp... get at your own risk

B. color and Size are the two biggest factors w/in a given market... and the price could double or triple depending on where you are

I priced out a \S/ - Superman Shield-- Outline + 2 colors @ the size of my Palm = $200-$300

-- more color = more money... but 'Tramp-Stamp' is closer to Silver Dollar Size so that would be less

countless variables

so honestly Just open the nearest Phone book, or Yellow Pages web site and find 5 local Tattoo shops make a day of calling or driving to them and talk with one of their artists -- if you have a pic or a drawing show it to them... it may not be cool, but take notes and ask questions -- all those things you should have done in school and with your stats... if your friends have ink, ask who did their work make a truly informed decision

-- Tattoos are either permanent or very expensive to remove so know what you want from day one

Q. I wanted to get one even though they are really common. To me, butterflies represent freedom and individuality. They are also one of the most beautiful creatures on Earth. I'm only 16 so I'm going to wait and see if I still want it when I'm older. But I wanted some advice first. Also, how much would it cost to get a small one?

Answer
Its your call. Just make sure it has meaning. There's nothing worse than a meaningless tattoo.

A small one would probably be around 50-75. With full coloring it might be up to 100. Every place differs though.

I'm getting a 5inch ish star with wings full coloring and its between 160-200. The artist is known for being very good and clean, so this price is on the higher side.

But why go cheap when you'll have it the rest of your life?

What tattoos would best cover my previous hip tattoos?

Savannah

I have two star tattoos, one on each hip. They are poorly done, and i regret getting them, i love tattoos, and they are addicting. Any ideas on cute matching tattoos to cover the ones i have?

Answer
Go chat with a few tattoo artists, and have them look at the existing tattoos that you're wanting to have covered. They will be able to give suggestions as to what they can do to cover them and what your color options will be. View sample pictures of their work and get recommendations from other people who have tattoos that you like. I'm getting ready to cover one that I have. The artist I'm working with says that I can use a product called Wrecking Balm (website below) to fade the existing tattoo and open more options for what I can get over it, or I can do a tribal butterfly in it's place. My color options are limited because of how dark the one I already have is.

Good luck to you!!

Answer
To the person who said that people with tattoos are uneducated:

My mother is a beautiful, VERY well educated woman who has struggled to get to where she is at, and has far exceeded most men in her field of work. She has a bachelors degree, and a masters degree, and is currently working on a PhD. She has been turned down for jobs for being too qualified for the position. And guess what!! She has a half-sleeve on each arm, as well as tattoos across her chest, back and stomach. Maybe it is YOU who is uneducated.

As for my best tattoo design, I have a large piece across my upper back that is a tropical forest scene which includes trees, flowers, butterflies, a snail, a ladybug, and lots of other little forest animals. It was done completely freehand without any stenciling or tracing of any kind, and I absolutely adore it!

How to transform a tattoo design onto my skin?

Wot Shines

I wanna get a tattoo on my back (near shoulder)...I have come up with my own design which is a butterfly...I found loads of tattoo pics from the internet and I integrated them into a design that I desire.

The best I could do with the computer was a black and white butterfly (filled in black with a white background). It is filled / solid.

HOWEVER I wonder how the tattoo artist can get my design (on a piece of paper) onto my skin. I mean, he/she cannot just look at my design and draw my my skin, can he/she?

How will he/she copy the EXACT design on my skin?

Answer
That's part of what being an artist entails. Any good tattoo artist should be able to look at an image and make a stencil out of it for putting on the skin.

Do you think this could work as a tattoo idea?

Beth

I want to get a tattoo for both sets of grandparents, and I want it to be one tattoo, not two, to show that they are one and not seperated. For one side, I want to get a sled, for all of the times in their backyard. For the other, a bar stool--they owned and lived over a bar. I want flowers surrounding/as the backdrop. Do you think an artist could find a way to make these two things that don't go together GO TOGETHER in one cohesive piece? I think if they could pull it off it would really be awesome.

Answer
Many women choose the rainbow toned butterfly. The colors can be placed in many different hues. They can be done in two color sets, three, four, and five or higher. A popular choice is purple, violet, green, light blue, pink, and yellow. If your tattoo artist is good, this tattoo looks great on the skin. The sizes can vary, but I would prefer 3inch by 3inch design. But, the ending choice is yours. They don't look right with 5 colors that small, but two will work for those of you that prefer a smaller tattoo.

Answer
I have done this a few times. You will need a thick cotton paper that can handle getting wet. Watercolor paper works well as does paper made for printmaking (etching paper, not rice/mulberry paper) . Apply the tattoo to the paper where you want it. Use a paintbrush or sponge to wet the paper backing on the tattoo. Once it is soaked thought, slide the backing away. While the paper you transferred the tattoo to is till wet you can use the brush to smooth out any wrinkles or edges that are not flat.

What is the reason for getting a butterfly crown tattoo?

MJDM

Answer
It meant something to the person who got it.

butterfly tattoo designs far and away the most popular tattoo design request. Its ranking shows the influence that women have in tattoo culture, as butterfly designs are an overwhelmingly feminine tattoo choice. The butterfly, because of its short life, its physical beauty, and its fluttering from flower to flower seeking nectar, has among many ancient peoples been regarded as an emblem of the impermanent, unstable characteristics of the lower human soul. The caterpillar lives its period, making for itself a chrysalis, which after a stage of dormancy is broken by the emerging butterfly. This suggests the idea of the less becoming the greater, of an earthy entity becoming aerial. These thoughts led the ancient Greeks to use the butterfly as a symbol of the human soul (psyche); and in their mythology Psyche was in consequence represented in art with butterfly wings.

And

Crown Tattoos have long been used as a symbol of royal power and authority. Like the sceptre, the crown is a visible badge of office, granting the wearer, it's possessor, the absolute right to rule. That authority to rule was often held to be divinely inspired. In the Christian tradition the garland of thorns placed on Christ's head during the ordeal of his crucifixion is know as the "Crown of Thorns". The centerpiece of any coronation of a new monarch is always the moment when the new King, Queen, or Emperor has the state crown placed upon their head. At that moment the power to rule is transferred to the new monarch.

As a symbol, the crown also symbolizes leadership, and the rightful authority which comes from being elected by a group to serve as their leader.

Many groups have used the crown to symbolize the power and authority to lead or command. When it is combined with a cross, one of the meanings of the crown is "victory," and the cross symbolizes Christianity. Many Royal crowns in Europe incorporated the Christian Cross into their design, reinforcing the Monarch's claim that their right to the throne was a divine right and that the Monarch was guided by the hand of God.

As a tattoo symbol, the crown doesn't just mean the right of one person to command another. It symbolizes and individual's sovereignty over their own life, feelings, thoughts, and actions. The crown symbolizes self-control, and is a reminder to use power and authority wisely and justly.

A treasure chest representative of the meaning of my daughter's name and a Celtic flame representative of the meaning of my son's name on my right calf.

Answer
This is a tattoo that you won't be able to find examples of online. This is a concept for a tattoo that you will have to come up with either on your own or you'll have to go to a shop and pay an artist to help you come up with an idea. I'm sorry.

Its really popular to get a butterfly with the initials you want to have hidden within the wings.

http://www.thefablife.com/nggallery/post/avril-lavigne-and-her-sk8r-boi-brody-jenner-get-matching-tats/page/23686

( Back of my Achilles tendon ) I KNOW it's going to hurt.

but I just need a bit help with WHAT to get .

I have 3 choices all mean a lot to me.

1. I was thinking of getting a turquoise butterfly or purple

2. A pinkish/purple orchid

3. A rose

I don't want it to look random...plain.... so which do you think will really pop?

Answer
It all depends on the artist. A good artist can make a plain-old rose tattoo looks spectacular if they're good. Make sure to check out the artist portfolio before you let them work on you...not every artist is the same!

I just got a teaching job at a Catholic school and love wearing skirts, but most shoes but the only shoes I know that go well with the skirts are ballet flats or sandals, both of which show the butterfly tattoo on my foot. Any suggestions on how to still look nice in the skirts yet hide the tattoo?

Answer
Be proud of your tattoo and if any of the prudes say anything, point out that its of one of your gods creatures!

How much does a small tattoo with color cost?

Ana

i want to get a small butterfly tattoo i drew and i want to make it colorful ...its to remember my grandmother who passed away. i would like to know the average cost please and thank you

Answer
It usually is an hourly fee. Most tattooists will charge a minimum fee. Mine charges $50/hr, but the minimum fee is $70. A small tattoo could take a while if it's highly detailed. When you choose your artist, they will give you a quote on the work and make sure cost is agreed on. You're not going to get surprised when you hit the register. Also, it's polite and only fair to tip. Not required, but needles, transfer sheets, ink all cost money. Some artists also pay rent to the shop, so kicking them something extra is always nice.

Remember good tattoos aren't cheap & cheap tattoos aren't good. Especially if you're honoring an important person in your life. :)

here is a link to the picture. I also am located in the cleveland, oh area if that helps. http://best-tattoo-remo-val.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/butterfly-tattoos-tattoo-designs-photo-pictures-5.jpg

Answer
Probably upwards of $700. Of course it depends on what shop you go to, but it's a relatively large piece with shading and color. Something like that will most likely take several hours, and for larger tattoos, artists generally charge a base price, and then an hourly price. Your best bet is to go to a local shop and ask them, because no one here will able to give you specifics.

How much does a breast tattoo hurt and how long would it take to get it?

Andrea W

This is the design I'm getting.

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh148/caree229/Butterfly_Tattoo.jpg
If you're going to answer please give me a serious reply/answer to my questions not tell me what design to get or not to get.

Answer
I have a tattoo on the upper slope of my right breast (the breast cancer ribbon surrounded by a heart). It didn't hurt at all. The one you have in mind is a little more intricate than mine but I doubt it will be all that painful. Uncomfortable, yes but not too bad.

That tattoo may take a bit...an hour or more. It has a lot of fine lines. Post a photo when it's done...I'd like to see how the finished product turns out.

I already have 2 tattoos and am wanting another one. Both of the ones i have are on my back. But I have to cover it up for work, meaning not on the arms or legs. I am wanting a super cute, sexy look w/ it. Where is a good idea?
I'm only 21 and ya I dont mind it showing any time outside of work. We just have a strict dress code. I have a "tramp stamp" and then one between my shoulder blades. So I'm wanting something different.

Answer
Do you want it to be seen when you go out at nights? Or is this something you desire to be more personnel? Suggest you use desecration since you did give your age, think about, ......have a few great ideas.. Good Luck!! Tanks for giving age! Just no not put a name on the tattoo, look for something you like, for instance a bird, butterfly etc.

I got a tattoo 4 days ago and it is leaking? What is going on?

vejrfam

I got 2 butterflies and a band on my leg about an inch above my right ankle. It is vey detailed and took 3 hours. The butterfly on the outside is fine but the one on the inside of my left keeps leaking clear fluid from one spot on the tattoo. I have 9 other tattoos on my uper body and this has never happened before. I called the artist and he said I prob used too much ointment, I have been using Unscented Lubriderm twice a day. CAn anyone help?

Answer
its not infected....its normal in the healing process...the tattoo is like a cut...the clear fluid is whats trying to heal the wound...clean it with anti bacterial soap and warm water 2-3 times a day..dont put anything on it for 1/2 hour or so then put something on it...its just like any other cut and needs to be exposed to air to help it heal...you would know if it was infected...i have A LOT of tattoos and hung out in a tattoo shop a good part of my life..
