::cheeky::
Okay so I have dug myself into a hole. My daughter is turning 2 and loves two things. Butterflies and books. So I thought lets have a party with that theme. Problem is the other children that I am inviting may not be as interested as she is. I am trying to figure out what to do. I know I am going to read a book to the kids and give them butterfly tattoos and coloring book stories in their bags but what else can I do. I thought bring up some games and have dancing time (what else do 2 year olds do?) Help! What activities and favors would you have.
FYI: 30 or so people are coming (parents and children) the party is indoors in about 2 weeks or so.
Answer
Activities:
Make a Butterfly Book-Take several pieces of computer or construction paper and fold them in half. The number of pieces determines the amount of paper you will need. Print or cut out pictures of different butterflies and let them glue them into their book.
Butterfly Dance
Create butterfly wings for each child by cutting fabric into 12 X 18 pieces. Hot glue two 6" to 8" (depending on the size of your children's arms) pieces of elastic to each end of the 12" side of fabric. Have this done before the party. Put wings on all the children's arms and have them dance around like butterflies. You can also make them antennas from pipe cleaners and pom poms.
Caterpillar String Puppets
Take an empty clean egg carton and cut out all of the egg cups. Poke a hole in the bottoms. String the cups on yarn to make a caterpillar. Cut another piece of yarn tie one end to the front and the other near the eighth egg cup. Make caterpillar crawl by holding the loop of yarn and moving it up and down. Let the kids decorate their caterpillars with crayons, washable markers, stickers, etc. You may want to have the caterpillars together already and just have them decorate them.
Favors:
Dollar store book for each kid
Butterfly stickers
Butterfly Hair clips
Gummy caterpillars
Butterfly Rings
