I have a neck tattoo of stars and and butterfly's it's not big at all and not visible when my hairs down .... And as well as a ambigram tattoo that says faith one way and hope the other war on my forearm which as well is in a visible spot ,I heard that I cannot have any visible tattoos at all ... Is that true or are they lenient on tattoos as long as they don't look gang related ..
Answer
Men must have a short hair cut so the hair is off the collar so you will not be able to have your hair down to hide the tattoo. Women must have their hair up so it is off the collar so they can not hide a neck tattoo either.
You had the money to get the stupid things, now spend the money and have them removed.

Can a gang member with tattoos and stuff join the army?
Q. I am not a gangster i am just asking
Answer
that depends. The rules are constantly changing. There are a lot of military people with tattoos.
The things they look at more closely:
Where is the tattoo? Face, hands, fore arms would have a harder time.
What is it a tattoo of? If it is racist, drug, or violent someone would have a much harder time.
How many tattoos? Does it all over the chest back and arms like a shirt? Is it small like a name?
Small tattoos like a Chinese character, eagle, flag, anchor (Navy), cross cannons, butterfly (females), and other stuff like that are very common and hardly looked at.
Now about being in a gang...that has problems of its own. Does the recruit have a criminal record? Are they active in the gang? Are they doing other stuff like drugs, burglaries, assaults, and gang type crimes. That will keep them out of the Army for sure. Tattoo or not.
If they have minor juvenile crimes like tagging or petty theft. They might get a waiver. They have to quit the gang.
