I agree with your list completely. I think nearly every film you listed in your top 10 is in my list also, we must have quite similar tastes. I loved all the movies you listed in 'Honourable Mentions' as well (Apart from Fantastic Mr. Fox, I love Anderson, but I couldn't get into this one)

Q. im looking for a book about a magical world ful of creatures if you could recommend one and just give a couple senteces about what its about!!

Answer
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
This is an awesome book about a red head boy and how he becomes this great hero person. It's told by him to a scribe person and is really interesting and you can't put it down. It's based in a magical world and it has lots of weird creatures in it.

The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini
(Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr)
You've probably already heard of them. They are about a boy who finds a dragon egg that hatches for him and he has to travel across the lands to the rebellion against this evil King. Through out the books he meets different races such as elfs and dwarfs.

The Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage
(Magyk, Flyte, Physik, Queste)
Is about a boy who is the seventh son of the seventh son and has extraordinary magical powers and he finds is family and they battle against the evil necromancer DomDaniel.

The Janna Mysteries by Felicity Pulman
(Rosemary for Remembrance, Rue for Repentance, Lilies for Love, Willows for Weeping)
Not really magical, but it is an excellent book about a girl trying to find her father after her mother was murdered to bring the murderer to justice.

The Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce
(Alanna: The First Adventure, In the Hand of the Goddess, The Woman Who Rides Like A Man, Lioness Rampant)
About a girl who swaps places with her twin brother so that she can become a knight and all of the adventures she goes through to reach her dream. She has healing powers and there are lots of different people with different magical abilities.

Rangerâs Apprentice series by John Flanagan
(The Ruins of Gorlan, The Burning Bridge, The Icebound Land, The Battle for Skandia, Sorcerer of the North, The Siege of Macindaw, The Kings of Clonmel)
About this orphan that is chosen to be the Ranger's apprentice and all of the things that happens. There are many different races.

The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness by Michelle Paver
(Wolf Brother, Spirit Walker, Soul Eater, Outcast, Oath Breaker, Ghost Hunter)

The Dead Days Omnibus by Marcus Sedgwick

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien
(The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King)
You've probably also heard of this one. It's about this Hobbit that has to destroy a magical ring and his journey to the only place where he can and all of the people/races he meets. It's really good.

The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing, Traitor to the Nation by M.T. Anderson
(Volume One: The Pox Party)

The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud
(The Amulet of Samarkand, The Golemâs Eye, Ptolemyâs Gate)
Involves summoning demons and magic etc.

Monster Blood Tattoo series by C.M. Cornish
(Foundling, Lamplighter)
Involves monsters and world of fear and a mystery. That's all I'll say otherwise I'll ruin the story.

The Whispering Road by Livi Michael
Awesome book. The story of two children trying to find their mother.

The Tapestry series by Henry Neff
(The Hounds of Rowan, The Siege)
Similar to Harry Potter. It involves a magic school and an evil magical person.

The Chain of Charms series by Kate Forsyth
(The Gypsy Crown, The Silver Horse ,The Herb of Grace, The Butterfly in Amber, Catâs eye Shell, The Lightning Bolt)
About a gypsy girl that has to find the charms of the chain of charms to restore the gypsy luck and save her family from jail.

His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman
(The Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass)

Pirates! By Celia Rees

The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
(Harry Potter and the Philosopherâs Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows)
You've probably heard of these and possibly watched the movies or already read the books. It's about a magical school and Harry's battle's against the evil guy.

The Greenwich Chronicles by Val Tyler
(The Time Wrekkas, The Time Apprentice)

The Immortals series by Tamora Pierce
(Wild Magic, Wolf-Speaker, Emperor Mage, The Realms of the Gods)
Series after The Song of the Lioness Quartet and involves more magic and adventures with some new and old characters.

I hope this helps and happy reading!
