Do you think butterfly Tattoos are dumb? (on a woman of course)?

Q.

Answer
Nope i dont think they are! I had one done 2 days ago on my lower back, mines a pattern with a butterfly in the middle then 2 on each side, it isn't really big but everyone i know love it! and i find it really cute & girly for girls my age (19) :) Here's the picture too.. http://img522.imageshack.us/i/tattooh.jpg/

(this pic was only taking about an hour or so after it was done by the way :P )

I actually designed the tattoo myself so nobody got the same tattoo! I really wanted a unique really cute one instead of a horrible dark one with a rose or something lol.

lotus flower or butterfly tattoo?

ive been through alot of crap but im starting a new phase, like a fresh start and i want to get a tattoo to symbolize this, a small one on my neck the can easily be covered so what new u think, a lotus flower or a butterfly?

Answer
I'd go with the lotus.
Lotus tattoos and rose tattoos are without doubt the most popular floral tattoo designs among women. The lotus and rose are very similar. The lotus flower is held in great esteem in the East as the rose is admired in the West. Symbolically they can represent the same thing. As the lotus rises from the murky depths so does the rose grow amongst uninviting thorns.
The lotus flower actually originated in Egypt, and has had a major role in the local myths and legends. The ancient Egyptians revered the Nile water-lilies, or lotuses as they were also called. The Egyptian lotus is known for opening its flowers in the morning and then sinking beneath the water at dusk and like roses were used extensively at burials.
Lotus flowers are symbolic of rebirth in Eastern beliefs, but aside from the religious meaning, the lotus also symbolizes truth and enlightenment particularly to those of the Buddhist faith.
The modern interpretation of the lotus flower seems to be one of estranged love or new beginnings. Many people get lotus flower tattoos after the break-up of a relationship. This may mean that they have risen above the depths or alternatively may return back to it as the lotus returns to the pond.
But, just so you know, just as many women get lotus flowers as they get butterflies. I myself have a lotus flower, with my own meaning for getting it....but guess what else I have. LOL, a butterly as well.

Tattoo Design Suggestions Please?

Reflecting on my life one day after coming home from working out at the gym I realized I really do want
a tattoo now. I've been thinking about getting one for awhile now but now I'm set on getting one but I don't want just anything.... The reason why I want the tattoo in the first place is to remind myself of everything I've been through in life or at least to remember the good times and keep going. The tattoo has to symbolize both good spirit, positivity, will to go on even when things aren't going my way, and respect. I plan to have it on my right arm (upper half)..and maybe chest if it's a big piece.

Can you guys suggest something??

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions.

Answer
butterfly tattoos is a popular tattoo for females. Butterfly symbolizes freedom and beauty. If you think you are like a butterfly that flutters freely from one flower to another, then you should consider this tattoo. A lot of women get this tattoo for its attractive and usually colourful appearance.

girls with butterfly tattoos?

Q. what is your opinion on a girl with butterfly tattoos on her upper arm? my friend has one and i want one similiar. alot of people say girls with tattoos on their arms looks manly. but this is a very FEMININE design. so what would you think?
its a big tattoo, about 6 inches

Answer
I think it's very cute and you should do it if you really want it. The only downside however is how cliche it is. Way too many people have butterflies, same with flowers and hearts. Try to make it your own thing, make it have some sort of twist to it. Something unique, don't just go on google, find a butterfly and have it done. Try to be creative, I promise you'll love it a lot more. :) How much would it suck to see someone with the exact same photo as you inked in?

Also, you can ask your tattoo artist to change it up a bit, or even draw your own thing, they will obviously re-touch it and make it more professional looking, the are artists after all.

Good luck!

Butterfly tattoo on a 15 year old boy?

DanDan

I'm 15 years old (I'll be 16 in a few days) and I've decided to get a butterfly tattooed on my inner bicep. It's a pretty simple tattoo; Just a black outline of a butterfly which takes up most of my inner bicep and faces upwards towards my armpit. You can barely see it when i have my arm at my side AND I'm planning on getting more tattoos when I'm older anyway so this one will most likely get covered up when I'm in my 20's.

I was just wondering what everyone thought of this idea :)
I am openly gay.

Answer
The butterfly symbolizes the spirit. Native Americans believed they were the spirits of dead warriors.
Modern culture, eh, ignorance reigns. If you are tough enough you go fella!
Personally, I know there is always somebody out there who can and will kick your butt.
I wouldn't invite that. You never know where you might be....

Tattoo placement help? ?

Q. So in about 8 months ish (lots of time to think and decide still :]) I'm gonna be getting a tattoo of three or four monarch butterflies just flying up. I am not entirely sure where to place it though! Im being careful as to where to place it since im still young so I do not know what I will be doing job wise years from now but the current plan is a hair styling course and being a hairdresser (which I'm not sure how that job is about tattoos). I've been thinking about my ankle area going up my inner leg but it wouldn't be easy to hide in summer an I heard the ankle hurts a lot. I've also been thinking about my shoulder blade but then I cant see it :( and also my thigh just about my knee so it can be covered with normal shorts or a skirt but you can see it in bathing suit of shorter shorts. So back, ankle, and thigh. Any other places that would be a possibility???? What are your opinions on those ones??

Answer
Well the placement of the tattoo is just as important as the design, so dont rush it.
Why must you get it in 8 months?
Theres no hurry.

Anyway, usually hair dressing stores are pretty accepting of tattoos.
I go to TiGi for my hair and my hair stylist is quite covered in tattoos.

I think the best place would be on your foot, have 3 or 4 butterflys flying upwards around the angle of your foot arch.
Tattoos look best when they flow with the natural shape of your body.
Another location could be behind your ear, following your hair line or on your waist, flying around your hip bone.

Ankle - Could be nice, a bit like the foot.
Thigh - Sounds a bit awkward, usually thighs look better with bigger tattoos that take up almost all of the space of the thigh rather than a few small butterflies, especially if they are down towards your knee.
Shoulder - Ive never really liked this location unless its apart of a full back/sleeve

Help I don't know where to get my next tattoo!?

Q. I'm planning my next tattoo which will be my 3rd I'm having 6 butterflies each individual butterfly to represent each family member I have lost in my family but I'm undecided where to have it and what style butterfly to have ... My first tattoo I had is in the centre of top of my back and the other one on my right foot but I don't know where to have my next one help!!!

Answer
You could have it going from under your knee to your ankle on your left leg. I think it would look really cool. You could have them going down sort of wrapping around your leg. If that makes any sense! Lol Talk to your tattoo artist, I'm sure they will be able to give you excelent advise on where a good place would be. :)

I would suggest NOT getting it on your ribs. If you ever become pregnant it will ruin your tattoo! :( It would be really terrible to get this beautiful tattoo only to have it ruined a little while later. My tattoo artist advised me not to get any tattoos on my torso area because they will get ruined during pregnancey.

Can my tattoo be covered even though...?

Q. Sigh, so I go a tattoo when I was 16. I can here the lectures now! I am now 24 and I so regret it. It's a butterfly with tribal designs (a back tattoo) on my ANKLE. It's so dark and big though. Most people don't realize there is even a butterfly there until they look closer. The memory is also bad. But I don't know if I could even get it covered because of the size and darkness of it. I thought of trying to get it lasered and putting a new one there but I know it will cost about $300 for the laser and how ever much for the new one.

Here's a pic. Hopefully the link works.

Answer
I got a tattoo of a bee (it was dark...mostly all black...very little bit of yellow). It looked like a fly! It was awful. I got it covered up with a very large flower and you can't even see the old bee anymore (I also got a new and better bee above the flower..and the artist added a ladybug, too!) - http://picasaweb.google.com/debbieleebee/OldSchoolPictures#5142528527279325618

Suicide prevention/support/awareness tattoo ideas?

Okay so a few years ago I stopped a friend from committing suicide and it's affected me so much. I would tell the story but you'll all get bored and all you really need to know is its something that means a lot to me and has affected me intensely. So I've been thinking about tattoo idea that could portray my passion in helping people overcome suicidal thoughts and such but I don't know what I could do. Keep in mind I'm only 16 so I won't be getting one anytime too soon maybe a few years down the road if its something I still really want and care about. All the tattoos I've seen online are more for people who have overcome suicide for themselves, I've never self harmed or done anything of that nature to myself so it doesn't really apply to me. I just wanted to know if you have any ideas in which I could do for a tattoo? Preferably very small but It depends on the design, preferably nothing bigger than the size of say an iPhone. Something small I think looks much more classy and meaningful, oh and I would put it on my wrists though because since the prevention incident thing I said earlier I haven't been able to look at my wrists without cringing.. Please dont gove me any answers like no dont ever get a tattoo their horrible! or wait til youre older! or anything like that, i did say i would wait til im older wothout a doubt and who knows i may not even want it by then. Okay sorry of this was too long, any ideas are appreciated please and thank you!

Answer
I've heard yellow butterflies are symbolic of suicide prevention, perhaps look into that?

Angel/fairy/butterfly tattoo wings??

Q. I have searched soo much on the web for a really good pic of wings and i can't seem to find what i'm looking for.... i plan on getting a pair of 'em on either my whole back or just across my shoulder blades, depends on what i can find. I kinda want like a mixture of the three.

Answer
Take a picture of each of your favorite of the types of wings. Find the best examples that you like the most. If you like the length of one set, the colors of another, the shape of a third, the texture of a fourth, then get them all. Take these pictures and what you like about each to your tattoo artist.

Work with the artist telling what your favorite parts are and how you want the whole thing to look. You can even circle parts and write notes on the picture. The artist will be able to draw up a combination of these things for you. Then you can look at this new drawing and see if anything needs changed until it is just right. This is what tattoo artists are AMAZING at. They will also have plenty of pics of wings on their own you can look at too.

Show them as much of what you want and explain it as well as you possibly can. They will work with you to get it perfect.

What does everyone think of tattoos on the side of the arm?

I have been wanting a tattoo similar to Sahar from the Real World New Orelans and Elina from ANTM cycle 11. I think it looks delicate and feminine, but I don't know if it will always look good. What do you think?

Answer
I think their tattoos are really good and they will always look good. But I would like to recommend you some other tattoo designs because tattoo designs must be unique, you don't need to copy their tattoo. If you are looking for some feminine & delicate tattoo designs then in my view butterfly and fairy look good on arms. Let's see on this girl having a wonderful tattoos of butterfly on her arm. we think Both women and butterflies have wonderful, curvy forms. They both have delicate, soft texture and are very pleasing to the eye. Tattoo of butterflies can be any size is also important.

butterfly tattoos: overdone, acceptable, or beautiful?

Q. many women these days are getting butterfly tattoos. Do you think that they are too popular, just fine, or do you yourself really enjoy these tattoos?

[answer the question without comments on how tattoos are gross please =)]

Answer
They can be either. The same goes with hearts, stars, love, live, believe, etc. Personally, I think a tattoo should have personal significance. The other poster getting those butterflies isn't tacky because there is meaning behind them. I couldn't say the same fire me though.

I do like it when people personalize designs though. Hearts are little overdone, but if I got a tattoo it would include am heat with a cross inside and sun rays around it because it has significance to me.

As long as the design means something, and has since personal touch I think it's fine. And I think, stars are more overdone than butterflies.

I would like an angel/fairy as well as my butterfly and his name n DOB in there sumwhere so any ideas/drawings welcome
thanks guys x

Answer
hmm..i have a butterfly with hearts coming from it with my daughter's name...incorporating a boy's name into angels and fairies is kinda hard..if i had a son and liked angels and fairies and stuff..i would somehow get a baby boy playing with the angels, or fairies..then put his name and D.O.B in a banner but check out BME they have all kinds of tattoos..maybe you could get an idea from there..hope this helps ;)

Tattoo symbolizing my son?

Q. I have wanted to get a tattoo with my son's name somehow fitted in. Does anyone have any ideas besides using his hand or foot? He is 14 months old and at this point his foot and hand are too big to use..I want something small and dainty.
Also, his initials ar C.J. which I also wanted to incorporate somehow.
His b-day is March, and umm...any ideas or drawings would be great!
You can also IM me with any pictures.
Thanks!
I don't know what some of the comments on here are about...(saying that only sluts and bikers have tattoo's)
I have 1 tattoo already and I'm neither(not that that matters)...the point is that if your going to answer a question just to get 2 lousy pints then don't waste your time on one of mine, cause I won't put up with it!!!

Answer
I have 2 kids and am getting a butterfly with their names as the edges of the wings. It's kind of hard to imagine but the letters of the name will be going down the side of the wing in some kind of script font. You might could do the same thing with his name as the body of the butterfly. Are you done having kids? If not you know you'll have to get a new tattoo with each new child...

Tattoo ideas for a 16 year old girl?

Q. So, For my Christmas my parents have FINALLY decided to let me go get a tattoo done. I have been wanting a tattoo since I was 14. I know people are thinking "get something something to you" I know that, but I have a lot of tattoo ideas and I like them, but I want something that I'm going to LOVE. I'm into a lot of different kinds of things, ranging from girly things like butterflies to boyish things like Batman. GIVE ME IDEAS?! :D And please NO hateful comments, my parents are amazing parents, and even though they are letting me get a tattoo does NOT make them bad people. They let me express myself. I have been bugging them for about 2 year about getting a tattoo and they were always like "wait until you're 18" Well, they can see how much I want a tattoo. (I even tried to give myself one) Yes, stupid idea. Right? But they see how dedicated I am to modifying and expressing myself into body art. And please don't say how I will look in 60 years. Seriously it's dumb when people say that kind of stuff. You only get one life to live, so why not ink it up?! I honestly do NOT care if you "approve" of my life style, I just need tattoo ideas. :D

Answer
the way I see it as it should be something original and maybe even meaningful to you, not all tattoos have to be meaningful or have some deep underlying feeling but it should be at least something you relate to or like, such as quotes, logos or flowers.

what you can do is go to a tattoo parlour of your choice explain your situation such as age, that your parents will consent (even better go with your parents) and just tell them what you like, maybe even print out pictures and take them, tell them even the faintest ideas you had like size or colour(s) and placement.

Then they can sketch you stuff

I think you'll regret it if you let a random person pick something that will be on your body for the rest of your life.

for inspiration or ideas I like Pinterest for everything from DIY projects to furniture, just search a few things.

even tumblr can show you a variety of stuff

if you're still indecisive I'd say wait it out a little till you're definitely sure what you want.

get a piercing or something else in the meantime, something not 100% permanent.

Q. I've been thinking about getting a tattoo for a while now and I know what wording I want, which is this http://pinterest.com/pin/15762667417062486/ but I'm not sure where to get it or if I would need to add something to it so that it's not so plain or anything -- any ideas?
I want the phrase "Never let your fears decide your fate"

Realize that the letters need to be no smaller than 1/2" tall to hold up well over time and not blur and turn into a blob.
Pick out the font that you would like, make it the approximate size and copy it and tape it to different spots on your body to see how you feel about each and how cloths work or interfere with it.
It's a good quote, and depending on the font and placement for your body type, it could look good.
It could go around an ankle, be on your shoulder blade or thigh, it could be with a flower, or a butterfly or a bird or something that is meaningful to you.

girls with butterfly tattoos?

Q. what is your opinion on a girl with butterfly tattoos on her upper arm? my friend has one and i want one similiar. alot of people say girls with tattoos on their arms looks manly. but this is a very FEMININE design. so what would you think?
its a big tattoo, about 6 inches

Good luck!

Placement of butterfly Tattoo on a girl?

Kelly H

I am wanting to get a butterfly tattoo not too big i have the design picked out i just am not too sure of where to put it. have any ideas?

Answer
Good question. I was actually thinking the same thing the other night (btw there are some gorgeous butterfly tattoo) now getting a tattoo kind of boils down to body size... if you are tiny then on your hip works good, and on your lower back, lower back even works for average size women too. Your shoulder neck and foot work for any size because they are areas that do no gain alot of excess fat. I am getting mine on my neck (because i think it looks cute) and on my foot (to cover up an old tat) because i fluctuate alot. You can also get it on your ankle... and pretty much where ever you want to... Just some ideas!!!!!

Halloween Help!? Please answer this!?

ashleigh.

I would like to be a fairy for Halloween. I want to do something extravagant. I want to be something like a neon fairy. (Neon Pink Tights, Blue or Purple Tutu, and Blue or Purple wings.) My idea was to choose one color tutu then the opposite color wings.
Questions:
Do you think all different colors on a fairy would look good?
What kind of makeup would I wear?
What designs would I paint on my face?

Any other ideas you have feel free to tell me, I want to look amazing.
Provide links if possible.
I don't know what shoes to wear either.
I have black heels, multi colored (purple pink and white) heels, and others. I have gold flats green flats purple striped flats etc.

Answer
if i were you i'd wear a simple neon dress, neon pink or navy blue tights, some homemade wings (you will need cardboard, paint, and glitter glue), green flats and for makeup/ accessories use stick-on body gems, temporary butterfly tattoos, face glitter, purple or pink eye shadow, pink lipstick (or lip gloss), and of course you HAVE to have a wand (make it with a stick of bamboo then cut a star out of cardboard, paint it gold or yellow and add glitter glue and put it on the stick with craft glue (or, if possible, clear gel-like glue (works real well)

halloween costume help?

=]

im being a butterfly and i already have the wings but im not sure what clothes to wear and what accessories to usee.
i have an ideas but i want to look really cutee
thankss<3

Answer
Ad different color glitter to your face or shimmery shadows (M.A.C. has some really awesome ones you can keep and use after halloween) you can get those cute glitter sets at any halloween store or walmart, target etc. Make antennae out of a headband and pipecleaners, just add pompom balls at the top, preferrabley glitter ones. Wear really bright fake eyelashes, carry a flower around. As far as clothes, I would just wear an outfit that matches your wings and black tights. But if you really want your wings and face to stand out I would wear all black.

have fun!

Edit: I have a friend who drew butterflies on her cheeks. If you cant draw then just buy some butterfly tattoos.

are butterfly tattoos unoriginal and boring?

Q. I've always loved butterflies, since they are so beautiful and symbolize changing for the better. I'm going to get 3-4 very tiny butterflies flying upwards on the side of my lower back (not on the 'tramp stamp' location) but my friends say it's very cliche to have a butterfly lower back tat and it's unoriginal and boring. But I can't think of anything I want more. Is it really such a common and boring idea ? And if it is, what is something small, girly and original that I can get instead ? Thanks in advance :)

Answer
In my view, all tattoos are bad, but butterfly tattoos are preferable to other kinds, like skulls or snakes. Its sort of like, better to have your little finger chopped off than your whole hand, you know? Tattoo predators don't like butterflies since they are pretty--they prefer to inflict snakes, skulls, dragons or satanic signs on their victims. But really, no tattoos are good. A tattoo is a tattoo, and the true cost of a tattoo is a lifetime of regret. There is an 80% chance you will regret it in your lifetime. Many people will look at you with disgust, for tattoos are offensive to many, many people. Your chances of getting a good job will be greatly diminishedâmost companies will not hire you since your tattoo will be seen as offensive to other workers. There is nothing good about a tattoo. A tattoo is little better than a cartoonâyou canât get a good quality drawing on the human skin. Tattoos are an urban blight. They are ugly, like graffiti. Like graffiti, they lower the quality of the environment. Tattoos lower the quality of life, for everyone who has to see their ugliness. The whole concept of tattooing is wrong, the way these hideous cartoons are inked into the flesh of people through bloodletting and pain; if they are âartâ as claimed, they are surely a dark and evil art. Tattoos are closely linked to other forms of self harm, like cutting, piercing, drug use, etc.; they are hand-in-glove with these destructive behaviors. . Young people are fooled into wanting tattoos by degenerate Hollywood and the media. Kids think tattoos are cool and cutting edge, but over time, they wind up hating their tattoos. Far worse, they wind up hating themselves. Parents and older people are so afraid of being disliked that they say nothing against tattoos, even though they know better. Worse, some completely abandon their responsibility to provide sound guidance and even encourage the young ones to get tattooed. As far as tattoos being âartâ, that is foolish garbage. A tattoo is NOT "a work of art". The human body is not a canvas and the abusers and mutilators who desecrate it are not artists. Most of their so called "art" is little better than comic book drawings. More and more young people are buying into this Hollywood lie that tattoos are a cutting edge way to âexpressâ yourself. But that is so not true. You should express yourself with your words and actions, not by inking graffiti onto your living flesh. Do not listen to the many predators and enablers here, who encourage young people to abandon decency and live self indulgent and destructive lives. Young peopleâdo not get tattooed. Stay in school, do your best there, avoid drinking, drugs, tattoos and piercings, and avoid those who have them. Go to college, study science, mathematics, or business, and avoid liberal arts (unless you are wealthy and donât need to make a living). God bless you in your life. But if you simply have to have a tattoo, a butterfly is far preferable to a skull, for sure.

People that have butterfly tattoos?

Kal Kal

For you what does your butterfly tattoo mean?

For me when I get mine, which won't be soon, it will be because of the butterfly project for cutting. So it would be good to have a permanent butterfly.
some people that I know have cut, really bad. and I have to but that's pretty much why I want the butterfly, I'm glad you guys like my idea, I've told some people about it and they just said yeah sure do whatever you want.
Oh and, I'm 15 could I get one now, or for my 16th birthday, with my parents consent?

Answer
it depends on you state's law on weather you can get a tattoo at 16. you cannot get a tattoo at 15 no matter what. i have a butterfly and the quote "alis volat propriis" its latin for she flies with her own wings. its for my best friend and her two little sisters that died in a house fire when we were in middle school. they now fly with the angles so the quote "she flies with her own wings" fits perfect and i loved how it sounded in latin. i had my best friend (who was like a sister to my friend who passed) draw some butterflies for me and the artist who did my tattoo combined the three drawings into one so it was a unique butterfly not one out of the book.

Can anyone help me with a tattoo design?

curious gi

I want a butterfly breaking away from chains, on my left ankle. I have never seen anyone with that tattoo. So it's hard to find a design. I don't have an exact image of it, in my mind. I just know i want it to represent me. Ive been through a lot in my life. I would like the butterfly to stand out, and the chains to be broken. If anyone has got any ideas, pictures of tattoos, designs, etc. Your comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Answer
Go talk with a tattoo artist and get him/her to design one special for you. Don't copy someone else's design; that would be pretty dull and unoriginal.

sexy tattoo design guys only?

leave a link to a a sexy tattoo that u want ur girl to have not to big thoe

Answer
While the following links attract my eye:

(see abdomen)
http://tattoos.lovetoknow.com/Sexy_Tattoos
(see hidden: tummy tat and lower back)
http://www.ebaumsworld.com/pictures/view/232063/
(see multiple attractive women with great long tattoos)
After a few seconds I want to know why they got those tattoos. If they said 'cause I thought they'd be sexy,' I'd instantly be turned off. It has to mean something to you. Tattoos are an expression of the artist who drew and colored it, and the person who the tattoo is on. The artwork becomes just ink and lines if it is meaningless.

Getting my first tattoo?

My 18th birthday is coming up and I want to celebrate by getting a small, simple, and easy to hide tattoo. Originally I was thinking of getting the word create tattooed on my hand? But that seems like it would be kind of hard to cover up and getting create tattooed anywhere else wouldn't be as special. Any ideas? I was hoping for something related to art or music. Also any sort of information someone getting their first tattoo would need would be nice. Is getting a tattoo across your wrist cliché? What are the tattoo clichés? Chinese symbols, butterflies, what else?

Answer
If you want it to not be visible, avoid hands, lower arms, neck, and some parts of your shoulders depending on the type of shirts you wear on a regular basis. (And feet if you're addicted to flip flops, like me.)

I've seen a lot of tattoos across the wrist, and I don't think it's cliche...however, WHAT the tattoo is can be very cliche. I've seen a lot of simple things that don't seem to hold meaning...a flower, a feather, and chinese (or any asian/eastern) symbols seem to be the epitome of cliche.

However, if it means something to you, go for it. I have an anchor tattoo and someone asked if I felt like I picked it off a board and I said, "No. It means a lot to me. I gave up my normal life to live on a boat and it brought me closer to my mother, and on top of that I drew the anchor myself." It was two reasons why that tattoo (an average tattoo, in this girl's opinion) was meaningful to me. If you can do that, pick reasons why that tattoo is special, then ignore the cliches.

I have also picked two other tattoos of mine by things in my past that I always want to remember. Me and my grandma have been having tea parties (now just coffee parties) since I was one and on one ankle, just under the bone, I have a tea cup and on the other ankle a tea pot. I get a lot of questions about why I picked them and I enjoy explaining why, and it always reminds me of my grandma and me spending time together. I think those are the best tattoos you can possibly get - the ones that remind you of loved ones or things in your past that you always want to carry with you.

If 'Create' holds a special meaning for you and you like the look of it across the wrist, then go for it. However, beware that wrist tattoos are visible, and it will always come up when you're looking for a job and can possibly harm your chances (depending on where you live/what you're applying for).

If you're into music, you can think about musical instruments or a piece that you love. Someone at a music store has her favorite part of a Bach piano piece around her arm. It's only a few bars long, but it looks great and it means something for her.

Pick wisely, though! If I were you I wouldn't get one just because you're 18. Wait until you have had one in your mind so much that you can already "see" it on yourself.

What to do with my butterfly tattoo?

Miss 'OMGH

I have a butterfly about 3.5 inches in size on the left hand side of my lower back, like profile view with wings slightly open.
It meant a lot when I got it, and still does, but I want to make something more out of it I'm just not too sure what to do with it.

Do any of you have ideas I can work on?
I either would like to keep its' elegance, or make it kinda kooky, but still feminine. I'm stuck basically haha
I don't want anything sort of cliche, I know a butterfly kinda is, but it was important, so I want something a little more unique maybe to balance it out - I'm just having a hard time thinking of something that could tie in.

Answer
you could add a flower to it or add more butterflies.

Help with my tattoo design! Beautiful Soul?

Q. So I defiantly want to get the words Beautiful Soul tattooed on me, and I am looking forward to it being my first tattoo. I have already picked out the font but I want a little detail to it, instead of just words. But what goes with that phrase? I was thinking maybe 3 little silhouettes of birds in black, or maybe butterflies? I am really clueless as to what to do. Can anyone give me some good ideas or opinions? And also would it be stupid on my foot? Or should I get it on my wrist?

butterflies sound cute, or hearts... or you could get the chinese symbol for beautifulunderneath the words... http://www.chinese-symbols.com/b-chinese-symbol-for-beautiful

Waist tattoo designs?

Jenny

I'm 16 and I know I can't get a tattoo until I'm 18 or older, but I want to start looking at some designs now to see if I will still like them when the time comes.
So, I was thinking of getting something on my waist, actually between my hip and belly button, so off to the side, a bit.
I want something small, so I can cover it easily if need be, but I want it to stand out If I'm wearing a bathing suit or one of those short shirts that show your stomach.

I was thinking of getting a small star, flower or butterfly, but I also like designs like this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v52/juicypink/tattoo-6.jpg

but smaller like, up to 2 inches long and 1 inch high.
If it is a single image, then I would want it smaller than that.

So, does anyone have/ know of any designs that I could consider? If so, please post link?

O, and preferably black and white (minimal or no shading), but if there is a bit of color, then that would be good too.

Thanks!

TATTOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Q. I'm 15 and my step mom said i can get a tattoo when i turn 16 which is jan 6th. What should my first tattoo be a tramp stamp or like a little star or something? If you have any suggestions plz write them down & try to put a picture lol thank you!!!!!!!

Answer
First, don't let anyone sway your opinion on if you want a lower back tattoo. They were around long before the term "tramp stamp" was invented, and they'll be around long after people ask "what's a tramp stamp?". If that's what you want, then go for it!

Second, seeing as to how tattoos are forever, make it something meaningful, or something that you will enjoy for the rest of your life. Remember that likes and dislikes will change a lot over your life (especially in the next 5 years of your life), so when you make your decision, make sure that it won't be something you'll hate later on in life, such as lyrics from a band you can't remember 20 years from now ^_~ (however, if it's meaningful lyrics, or from your 'all time favorite band', then consider it [ex: I would be happy with the lyrics from Metallica's Fade to Black, but I'd kick myself if I had Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby]).

Likewise, if you choose some picture of some sort, unless you plan to have a 'child-like playfulness' about you your entire life, I would avoid any sort of child-like imagery (if fate should have it that, at 80, you're a bitter old woman, you will hate the lollipop tattoo on your ankle), or conversely, anything too 'extreme' from your 'average self' (if at 80 you're a kid-at-heart, the tattoo that reminds you to take the "safe route" might become too stuffy for you).

For something meaningful, consider your own personality traits. If you think of yourself as being courageous, pick a lion. If you're cute, pick a puppy or a ribbon. If you love stargazing, pick celestial figures. If you're religious, pick your favorite passage from your (insert appropriate book here), or an icon from your favorite story. If you take pride in your heritage, pick a pattern based off that heritage... and so on.

If you want something purely artistic but simple, some suggestions: a shower of stars, a rainbow ending in a cloud, butterflies (consider natural butterflies as well, as they are just as vivid in nature as our own imaginations), frogs, geckos, vines, flowers, leaves, small birds, owls, or smiley face with "Have A Nice Day" (or maybe a pirate happy face with "Have A Piratey Day, ARRR!", or some other theme like that).

Most tattoo shops will have flash (common tattoo images) on their walls for you to look at, so if no ideas here satisfy what you want, check out their flash, and see if you can't work with your artist to come up with something that's "uniquely you".

What about a butterfly tattoo?

Q. So before i tell you what it it here's a little backstory to why i want it. My mom had a tough life growing up (with details that don't need to be explained) and so the butterfly became something that made her stronger. for her it simbilized re-birth and letting the past go and starting a new and better future with her growing family. However, my mom died when i was three years old. And to me it means sort of the same and though i will never be able to forget her i can not let it negatively effect my future.

When i decided i wanted a tattoo i knew it was going to be there forever and i didn't want something that didn't mean something. So i was thinking of getting some sort of butterfly tattoo with her name incorporated somehow.

i know that sounds discreet but when i do go to get my tattoo (won't be for a few years) i'm going to have an artist custom sketch my tattoo so it is more unique

Is that a good enough reason to have a tattoo. i know it will always mean something to me. And if anyone has an idea of where to get it that doesn't sag to bad, in a stretch mark area, or might take away from me getting a job that would be awesome too. (pain really isn't an issue)
Omg i was set on my thigh last night before i checked this

Answer
this is going to sound crazy, and i swear on my life it's true, but my mom had a tough childhood, too (no details) and ever since she was a little kid she has loved dragon flies and how they could just fly away from it all. i plan on being a model, but in honor of her, i want i dragonfly tattoo in a few years. i have decided i want it either just inside of one of my hip bones below my underwear line or to one side of my upper back. i was thinking of incorporating her name into the body area so that it looks like the segments of the body and using her two favorite colors on the wings.

Wrist/Forearm Tattoos?

PixieWings

Ok, so I have butterflies of my left wrist/forearm (More than the wrist, but not the whole forearm). Next week, I'm going to be getting a tattoo of a fairy of my right wrist/forearm (it's already drawn out and everything...I love it!). I just had a few questions though:
1) I'm going to become a Vet Tech. The animal hospital I work at now...EVERYONE has tattoos. But, I plan to relocate in the future (from NY to CO). So, I was wondering if I would have trouble getting hired because of my tattoos.
2) What do you think of girls with wrist/forearm tattoos?
3) And last, what do you think of my idea (the butterflies on one arm and the fairy on the other)?

Answer
1. You don't get hired because of your tattoos, it's your skills and personality that should matter. But there are some people that look down on tattoos. If it's a fancy cooperate job then you may be asked to keep it covered. Some places would ask to keep any tats that may be seen as offensive covered. It depends on where and what field you chose to work in. You may want to keep them covered during the interview and ask about their policies on tattoos.
2. I'm not a man, a girl with tattoos is a girl with tattoos unless I know them well. Tattoos are a personal taste thing, some people like them some don't.
3. Not what I would chose but sounds like a cool idea.

what do u think of this tattoo?

Q. i want a tattoo on my inner forearm and i want it to say vita pulchra est (latin for life is beautiful) with a small blue butterfly beside it
please tell me what u think, my friends think its a dumb idea cause im not even latin..

Answer
You friends are idiots. It would make a beautiful tattoo. People get latin tattoos every day.

You wont have any room next to the saying for a decent butterfly. Place the butterfly above the words and it will look perfect. Just make sure that the width of the butterfly is the the same width as your forearm or it wont look right. If you do it right, it should look fabulous.

sexy tattoo design guys only?

leave a link to a a sexy tattoo that u want ur girl to have not to big thoe

Answer
While the following links attract my eye:

(see abdomen)

(see hidden: tummy tat and lower back)

(see multiple attractive women with great long tattoos)
After a few seconds I want to know why they got those tattoos. If they said 'cause I thought they'd be sexy,' I'd instantly be turned off. It has to mean something to you. Tattoos are an expression of the artist who drew and colored it, and the person who the tattoo is on. The artwork becomes just ink and lines if it is meaningless.

Tattoo, where is a good tattoo parlour in Melbourne?

Where is a good tattoo parlour in Melbourne?
Questions to ask to achieve a good quality tattoo?

Answer
To achieve a great tattoo, ask for recommendations on an artist from people you see who have great tattoos. REALLY nice work is very obvious and people who have it are usually pleased to give you the name of the artist.

Once you get to an artist, ask to see a portfolio of work. They should produce a collection of photos that show tattoos both after they are freshly done and preferably (though not always) after they have healed some. If you are going in for a cover-up of an existing tattoo, then insist on seeing before and after photos.

Once you have seen this person's amazing work, present your idea to them. Show them the area you are considering putting this design, how big you would like it to be, what colors you were thinking of, etc. If you have pictures of the design (even if they are not exactly right) bring them in and explain what you are thinking of. If there are any changes to the picture, explain those as well.

Durring this process your artist will be making suggestions on size, color and placement as well. They have years of experience with the look and technical execution of tattoos, so hear them out. Many times a customer will come in and want a tattoo in a size that is just impossibly small. It is the artist's job to correct misconceptions like this and make suggestions that will work.

One of the best ways to get a unique tattoo is to let your artist draw up a design just for you. If you want a butterfly, don't just pick one off of the wall of the shop (unless you really truly love it just as it is). You can choose traits from several different pictures and explain what you like about each. Your artist will be able to assemble you a new piece of art that is just yours.

If you are a little fuzzy on what exactly it is you want, get a decent idea and then ask for suggestions. Tattoo artists love to work with a solid concept and then flesh it out themselves. For example, as long as you are sure you want a soldier-like pinup, they can do the rest for you.

Getting a quality tattoo is all about finding the right artist, checking out their work yourself, hearing out suggestions for improving your tattoo idea, and then taking proper care of your work while it heals.

As for a shop in your area, start asking the owners of good tattoos. Or you can get out the phone book and find the adresses of reputable shops. Stop in and check out the portfolios and chat up the artists. A great artist is always happy to show off his work to a potential client.

What does everyone think about an 18 year old girl with a rib cage tattoo?

Q. I am really thinking about getting a rib cage tattoo when I turn 18 in Jan. I was thinking about either getting a long patterns of lillies with many curves in them and spirals, or butterflies or stars? What do you think?

Answer
i love rib cage tattoos i got my rib cage done when i was 17 (after endlessly begging my mom) and it's my favorite tattoo by far, i heard horror stories of how bad it hurts when it really didn't at all, all 4 hours of it. It's your body though so be sure of the design you want, Lillies sound way cute though! :)

How bad does it hurt to get a tattoo?

Q. Ok so i want to get a pretty elaborate butterfly on my back (not a tramp stamp) and my pain level isn't that high and isn't that low Either so it's pretty normal so can you guys just tell me on a scale of 1-10 how bad it hurt for u?

Answer
I just recently had my whole forearm one. Places your skin bends like your elbow and stuff hurt alot more than other places. Ribs is also the worst place pain wise. On a pain scale of 1-10 id only rate mine like a 6-7 and its my first tattoo and it was pretty large. No matter where you get it unless u have super sensitive skin or ur just a baby, it will be bareable. Otherwise nobody would get them.

Mine was also done in one sitting and i had it colored and shaded. After like an hour my arm was pretty numb and i was used to the pain and able to just have a conversation with my tattoo artist.

Your back wont be to bad aslong as its not on the side near your ribs or up by your shoulders.

Goodluck with the tattoo!

What other tattoo should I get on my neck?

Q. I have a butterfly on the left side of my neck and I want another tattoo on my neck.

Answer
Your favourite flower - so the butterfly can be on the other side, looking for it!

Getting a tattoo because it's pretty - opinions?

Q. I'm 16, looking to change my image. I've been a little obsessed with tattoos lately. I'm thinking of getting a butterfly tattoo on my wrist - but purely just because I think it'll look nice. However, I know a lot of people moan about that type of thing, "pointless" tattoos, getting a tattoo for the sake of it. Should I only get tattoos that actually MEAN something to me? For instance, I also want to get the japanese characters for "life" tattooed on me somewhere, partly because I like Japanese culture, but mainly because I've been having suicidal thoughts lately and I want to get something to remind me of the joys of living, I suppose. Is the japanese tattoo therefore better than the butterfly tattoo? I'm planning on getting both, but, in your opinion, is it dumb to get a tattoo just because it looks nice?

Answer
Don't worry about what other people think about your tattoo. I have multiple that are very meaningful to me but I also have a few that I've just always loved the way it looks and wanted it on my body and I'm not afraid to tell people that. One thing I would suggest, unless you know what you're doing the rest of your life (job wise) don't get it on your wrist. A lot of places frown upon tattoos in general but especially ones that are visible in a work uniform. A butterfly or japanese writing would look good on the back of your neck. Or your shoulder blade, that's where my first tattoo was. Partially because I wasn't allowed to get it on my arms because of work and it was a bigger area which allowed there to be more detail.

Tattoo Artist Help Please?

Q. I want to get a small tattoo on my foot, but I have a few questions about it.

1. I have heard foot tattoos can smudge-is this true and how much?
2. What are the chances of the tattoo getting smudged or anything?-is this during the healing process or forever?
3. How long is the healing process?
4. How long will the tattoo take to do-it will be like 1 in wide and 3 in long
5. Does it hurt-alot?
6. Do you recommend it on the foot why or why not?
7. I have heard you can't wear shoes or socks during the healing process-is this true? What happens if you do?
8. Will I scar from the tattoo needle? I have very sensitive skin and scar from everything
9. Will it need to be touched up in the future-how often?
10. Will it fade at all?
11. Any other tattoo advice would be greatly appreciated!!! This will be my first tattoo and I plan on getting it around next September

Answer
Smudge? Tattoos anywhere on the body lose their sharpness, especially very small tattoos. Detail will be lost. For instance, good tattoo artists won't do small text because it will run together into a blurb. you can't help that, it's your body's natural aging process. Otherwise, the tattoo can 'blow out' where the lines can look like they've strayed from the original design. Usually a result of a very heavy handed artist.
A small tattoo of that size, probably an hour, your feet do hurt because of the bones and nerves in that area. Not a lot of skin and fat = pain. Typical healing time is about three weeks (for the initial process, complete healing time can be up to two months on a foot, which is why swimming and sunning are on the no no list for that long, then wearing sunscreen, while the top layer of skin regrows after peeling), though foot tattoos tend to hurt for longer during the healing process because the artist is putting an open wound on you, you don't realize how often you use a limb until you have something painful on it. As long as you stay to the upper side of the foot, you should be ok location wise, your foot regrows skin at a faster rate than other spots of the body because of the wear and tear it sees. So getting it lower where callouses are can be horrible for tattoos fading quickly or ink not sticking well.
Inevitably you're going to wear something on your feet. If you can schedule the tattoo before a weekend where you can leave it mostly uncovered for the first few days, it'd be great. You can wear cotton or a breathable sock, you want the ink to get air to heal. Shoes, try to keep them loose and kick em off when you can. If worst comes to worst, the sock might stick to the tattoo, if it doesn't come off easily after you apply water to gently remove it, you might need minor touch ups.

A tattoo is a scar. In a worst case scenario, you might end up with a keloid type scar. They're common around piercings but if you've ever had anything like them before, you might want to really think about the tattoo. Otherwise, the tattoo won't scar beyond where the ink is applied unless you get an infection.
With today's inks and applications, most tattoos can go years without a touch up, but your feet might need them a bit more often if you're a fan of flip flops or similar shoes where the tattoo is going to see a lot of sun, or if you like cramming your feet in heels or other tight fitting shoes, they can effect how often you're going to get a touch up. Tattoos do fade. It's inevitable. It's up to your aftercare that's going to effect it and how often you'd need touch ups to refresh it. Lots of sun or abrasive shoes can certainly do damage to a tattoo.

You've left yourself plenty of time to plan, so be sure to pick out an artist you're comfortable with and ask them for aftercare advice. A lot of shops put up aftercare on their websites now so people can be prepared with the right lotions and such before they get their tattoo (I can't recall how many times I've had to run out after getting a tattoo cause I forgot to plan ahead of time). Some have different tips and tricks to make things easier for you and that can give you the time before the tattoo to pick up anything that can be beneficial to having at home before you get inked (like an ice pack if it gets too sore).

Otherwise, eat right before you go in to get your tattoo, drink something sugary, fuel helps your body tolerate the new wound Be sure to ask your artist what their aftercare is, they should be able to give you concise washing directions (typically 2-3 times a day with a mild soap, pat dry with a clean paper towel, apply thin layers of lotion, something scent free and dye free like lubriderm, etc) and other info so if you do need a touch up, they can rest assured you didn't try some off the wall healing process either. :) Have fun and happy holidays to you!

We Will All Laugh At Gilded Butterflies?

I am looking at getting the full Shakespearean quote, if not this improvised one above tattooed on left shoulder blade (yes, similar to megan fox). I understand, for the most part, the meaning of the quote but I have no clue what play it's take from so I'd love to know that and if anyone could give a better definition of the quote as well that would be lovely!
Thankyou(:
