Butterfly or wing tattoo?

Sky

I've been wanting to get a tattoo on my back, but I don't know what to choose. I was thinking of wings interlaced with a Celtic knot design on my upper back, but I'm also worried that perhaps that might be a bit much. Maybe I'm overthinking it...The other idea I had was of a butterfly, maybe a monarch or one that has beautiful patterns on it, to be on my right shoulder blade. It would be a tattoo of an actual butterfly, nothing cartoonish. Both would be in black ink.

Which one do you think would be a better tattoo? Just looking for opinions, nothing is solid yet.

Answer
Even though these tattoos often get all lumped together under one banner there really are many different styles and forms of the butterfly tattoo. If you are considering getting one then it makes sense to take some time and explore the different styles available and discover what you like best.

Answer
if you're into music, you could get a nice, pretty pattern of musical notes.
or you could find a quote or lyrics that mean a lot to you, and always will.
this is pretty cool too:
