I am an avid climber and im looking for a new tattoo to get that has to do with rock climbing either on my tricep or on my ribs.

Answer
Instead of asking us, I suggest hitting up an ink shop in Colorado. The artists will have experience with climbing designs and understand the culture. Having a guy that is more into butterfly/fairy tramp stamps than climbing won't understand what this means to you nor be able to offer suggestions for improving your design. The parlors in climbing country will have books of designs they have done before that you can at least use for inspiration.
Tip 1: NO company logos. Why provide free advertising for a company that could be gone tomorrow? Plus, they aren't paying for it anyway. Even the pros don't get their sponsors' inked on them because they know that they might not be their sponsor tomorrow...
Tip 2: No words unless they mean something to you. A quote from a mentor climber of yours that completely changed how you view the sport? OK. Some quote that you read in a magazine from a current pro climber? Not so much.
Tip 3: Make it timeless. You will most likely have this on your body for the rest of your life. Some inside joke or trendy diatribe is a waste of your money and skin.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of bands. They have become quite generic and you would need to do something that no one else has done to make it unique to make it worth while.

You can also google for "climbing tattoos" or "rock climbing tattoos". That can get the juices flowing (I posted links to a few below). Still not enough? Do a search for tattoo parlors in various towns in CO: Denver, Boulder, Colorado Springs, etc. and hit up their individual websites. Some have galleries of their previous work to also get the ideas moving. You could also look up some climbing art (jercollins.com upwards gallery) or climbing mags for inspiration as well.
I've been seeing a lot of geckos and lizards lately. Since one of the locations is your ribs, you could do an alpine coiled rope. The tat would travel from your ribs up and over your peck, over the shoulder, down the shoulder blade and join back up at the ribs. You could do this so it is hanging on a shoulder or diagonally. I know this is a lot of real estate, and likely pretty expensive too, but if done right, it would be amazing, especially if you could decide on a nice sheathe pattern for it as well.
Another thought is to expand your ideas to more of an adventure theme rather than sticking with just climbing. I've seen some really nice map compasses inked as well. (www.littlebeeps.com/themes/blue/old_map_compass.jpg) Maybe combine it with a climber.
Anyway, hope you find what you are looking for.
-Good luck
